  1. Please show us the results when you do "use them." A stone bird bath in granite would be a good place to start. TC
  2. Thanks all for the replies, as some will know I only bought the camera last Sunday and it has a broken back screen I have ordered a new one and just waiting on it to arrive. So lots of functions of the camera are not available to me yet. What I am trying to do is get the basic idea of how shots are formed by trial and error. Read some, then go and try it and alter setting on the same shots and see how they turn out. I will have to start taking a book with me and write down the settings for each shot, till I get the LCD display unit back. Next trip is down the coast I think plenty of light

With the stone walls in your house it may pay you to get a signal booster. My boy had to do it in his. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=wifi+signal+booster&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&_udlo=&_udhi=&_ftrt=901&_ftrv=1&_sabdlo=&_sabdhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=SA153SN&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=3&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50 TC

  5. Thanks, I think I am beginning to understand now. This is the exif data for number 4. Manual exposure, 1/256 sec, f/6.3, ISO 1600 TC
  6. Canon 600D with a EFS 18-55 IS lens, but no back screen for the moment. TC
  7. Crisper, better settings, any ideas people have. Not too worried about composition as I will never be artistic. TC
  8. I have been trying to get my head around ISO and depth of field. Yesterday I took a walk up a river valley that is very overgrown and quite dark. Here are some of the shots I got if I can remember correctly I will give the ISO and F for each shot. The problem I have is, as the new screen has not yet arrived I have to wait till I get home to see each shot. This was taken with f5.6 @ 400 ISO as there was light coming in from the left. This one was taken with f11@ 100 ISO This next shot it was quite dark with just odd streaks of sunlight above the tree. Taken @ f5'6 I think
  9. Nope the clues in the box Goldeneye? TC
  10. It is amazing, back in 2002 when I first started on forums this was normal speed, if you did not time out! Now if we do not have an instant gratification it's all hands to the pumps my computer is slow. I sometimes think whoooow, slow down a little, is there really any need for the speeds we desire? TC
  11. Tell him to put a few bob in the meter. TC
  12. do you know how long it took me to post that? TC
  13. It is probably a problem with the sites server, out of Ian's hands all he can do is notify them. TC
  14. Just another thought, I am using firefox latest edition. What browsers are you lot on? TC
  15. Does that mean if I make a new shortcut it could solve the problem? I'll give a go anyway. TC
  16. Cannot access the site from desktop short cut, have to go into another site then use a bookmark to get on. Every page takes an age to load, I have tried it on three desktops and lap top and phones all the same. If it is not happening to anyone else it must be my BB, But there again I have no issues with any other sites just here. Anyone else the last 4 days? TC
  17. Another one that has stuck in my mind for a hell of a long time. I was sitting on a bus when an old woman, her granddaughter and her great granddaughter got on the bus. They sat 2 seats in front of me and the great grandmother had the baby in her arms and was playing and talking to her. At one moment they were both looking at each other, the baby with it's smooth white skin next to the sunburnt wrinkled face of her g grandmother. It struck me then that there was life, beginning and end. If I could have captured on film what I actually felt it would have made some photo. TC
  18. making my mouth water just by reading that! how long do you leave it in the oven for? I'm definitely going to try that! It really depends on the age of the rabbit, with a young rabbit about an hour and a quarter at 190c Gas Mk 6 should be fine, an older rabbit will take longer around two hours at 175c Gas Mk4. TC

No matter how charismatic Nigel is, he will never get anywhere without a team to back him up. Unfortunately he does not have that team. TC
  20. Just tried it and my camera does not add shutter counts to it's photos. Thanks a lot though. TC

The only advice I would give, is work with the dogs natural instincts, do not try and make it into something it is not. They are like a sponge and can be good at any number of disciplines, from ferreting though to blood tracking, although I have heard that with some it can be difficult to get them to ground scent as their natural instinct is to air scent. Stunning dog. TC
  22. I think it is as Bob says, a home / blacksmith made tool for making sowing troughs for seeds. Thinking about it, if it was a recognised tool, I would think it would have a makers mark. If the tool was used on the holding there should be evidence in the form of V's in concrete etc? TC
