Totally agree, it's nice when the organisers put dogs first and in a pride of place at a gamefair, not out of the way away from everywhere. The trophies and rosettes were out of this world. This will be the premier working dog event in the future just like chatsworth used to be in the mid 90's. I was the official photographer and there was a buzz around the show rings on both days everyone was happy and the atmosphere was electric. The coursing and race track was just fantastic and top marks must go the the racing organisers, Everything ran like clock work. The rest of the gamefair

I met Dutch Salmon at the Waterloo cup he's a very pleasant fella, he was in his element on the coursing field at Altcar. Really enjoyed meeting him

I've been feeding the above for over 2 months now but i'm finding it hard to source it at the right price. The price ranges from £11.00 -£16.50 a bag. I can't fault the food in any way as it keeps the dogs in good order. What i am mad about is no petshops local to me stock it and have to order it, then they charge the full retail price for it. If anyone knows of a supplier near Doncaster that sells it for a reasonable price please let me know and i'll fetch 3-4 sacks at a time.

Cheers for that lofti, it's the first two day event we've done and i think it went fairly well. Hopefully we'll also be at the EDRD show and the pride of the peaks. -
I agree with your view on the camera, but not on the standard lense there crap. My advice with camera's and lenses is exactly the same advice i give to folk looking for a rifle and scope. Buy the camera then put the best glass you can afford on it. I used a 400d at harewood gamefair at the weekend as my second camera with a 24-105L f4 lense on it, Someone came up to me and asked why i got better photo's than them when we had the same camera. It was the lense they had the one that came with the camera bundle. The 24-105l retails around £800-900 but it's well worht the money if you want go

Well done Mally, and your assistant... nice one of Willow..(431) Nathan did a grand job too.... Thanks, We were run off our feet over the two days, up at 5 and we didn't get packed away until 8.30pm both days. I've been up since 5.30 this morning sorting through Sundays photo's and i've just uploaded the last of them. It's the same for tomorrow with Mondays photo's too. It's the largest event we've covered to date and Nathan was a real star. Myself and Lisa took over 6000 photo's over the 2 days. I should just about get them online before my next event on Sunday!!! It's the be -

I've just uploaded the lurecoursing photo's from sunday onto the website (just short of a thousand!!!) more photo's will follow please be patient as it does take a while. Please Click here and then click on the yorkshire gamefair link -
:clapper: Totally agree. Plenty of road work at trotting pace, building them up. Forget about treadmills they don't harden a dogs feet and tone the dogs up. I know this as a few whippet folk us them, you just need to look at my bitch then look at there dogs. My bitch has more muscle definition and is more toned. I walk mine at least 4 miles a day (everyday)then they get 1/2 hours free running.

A Fawn whippet bitch has been found near walesby Notts, I've been to look at her today as a friend is caring for her. Shes look like a non ped whippet she's 18" and weighs about 23lbs. She's a lovely little thing very placid and not timid at all. She has a micro chip but the scanner couldn't pick up the number after half an hour trying!!!. She's about a year old looking at her If you know who she belongs to please get them to contact me (please pm me for my phone number)

k,c whippets are for show and bumping the price of there pups up ,,,, Typical slagging from a non ped guy. All i can say is you know what your getting with a Kc registered whippet. My bitch is a kc registered whippet (i bred her) and i'd put her along side any whippet either non ped or ped out in the field. We've been out lamping with lurchers and she's held her own run for run. and i don't mean for an hour i mean all night. Stamina isn't an issue at all with my whippet never has been. I actually delivered your fawn dog at Fleesh's the bitch had a hard time, and i ha

Keep an eye on ebay for items being sold by canon outlet, i bought a canon 400D for £289, admittingly it came with a standard 18-55 lense which are crap, but you can pick up a decent lense for under £500. Remember it's the lense that makes the difference in your photo's thats why i use the canon L series lenses on my 30d. I wouldn't go for the 1000D as you havn't got the settings or shots per second for taking continuos action shots

If you print the voucher out and present it on the day with your order we'll deduct a pound off the price of a mounted 8x6 print. -

Cheers Tom , you'll be wanting me to buy you a pint next!!! unfortunately due to my scottish ancestry i'm as tight as a ducks arse so you'll have to settle for a dram of raspberry gin. recently i've been taking alot of photo's of the every day dogs as i put it (peoples pets) so it will be nice to get back to taking photo's of dogs i have a passion for the lurchers etc. I'm really looking forward to the show and meeting up with friends old and new. Mallyfield Photography will be in the booking in marque in the discover dogs area. I will be putting up a money off voucher in this thread -

Cheers Tom, i'm not sure wether you'll beable to afford one now though lol. I will indeed be doing the photography in the dog section of the fair along with lisa who's also taking photo's for Mallyfield photography. Anyone wanting photo's of there dogs just come and ask one of us, if you don't like them there's no obligation to buy. We'll be taking photo's of all the racing, simulated coursing, gundog scurry as well as the showing. -
NO! if you wanted to pay over bloated K.C. prices you could still get you're expensive puppy working, but why bother? you can pick up peds and non peds for less money, breeders ruin breeds by their adherence to badly interpreted rules. The K.C merely set a standard, and the so called expert judges do the rest. that being said my first Whippet was awarded first place in a hunt supporters show despite having lost part of his ear in a fight with a barbedwire fence! the picture is my new nonped racing whippet It's ok buying a non ped but do you actually know what size the pups going to be?

Mines Kc registered mate as are most featured in this thread. I had a phone call last week from a lady who rang a show breeder about buying a pup, she asked about exercise and the breeder said she walks hers around the block once a week as thats all they needed!!!!. proberly thats all they need to stay in a fat untoned condition the way 99% of show whippets are kept. I bred the Fawn bitch featured in the post earlier in this thread and her sire is a show bred dog. He is however well put together and is of the correct size with plenty of bone. Her Dam is on the large size but is line b

You can't beat roadwork to keep the dogs toned up throughout the season. keeps the feet in good fettle too.

Hi Tom it was a good show last year although the traffic was a nightmare, there's a couple of gates open this year and it opens earlier so access should be alot easier. hope to see you there mate.. -
Totally agree with you Gaz, most of the negative comments made about whippets are from folk who have never owned one. I like yourself work my dogs hard throughout the season, there also out twice a day every day of the year. You only get out what you put into a dog IMO. It's obvious the person who jacko2009 got his bitch from didn't have a clue, she's not even lead trained at 8 months old. I'm just pleased Jacko's got her now and he's making an effort with the bitch. you hear of folk leaving dogs in a run for 6 months before they start doing owt with them. then wondering why they can't

My whippet obviously don't agree with 3 runs and there knackered.. there not half bad at ferreting either My whippet is 20" and weighs 30lb a couple of times last season she was out ferreting all day and out lamping at for 4 hours the same night. if you feed them a good diet and keep them fit they'll thrive..
