  1. not a patch on your lad mally, is vixen well, you no iv got a soft spot for her, atb jamiew Cheers Jamie, I'm not knocking Thomas's dog, he looks a good ferreting dog, from the photo's he puts up. Its the way the dogs being used to cover any and i mean any bitch just for the stud fee. I've had a few stud enquiries just lately and i've refused as they were complete muppets, My mates say i'm stupid as there money is as good as anyone elses and there only going to go to another stud dog anyway. I've put alot of thought into the breeding of my dogs, and i won't let anyone use him at stud i
  2. It could be the EGR valve mate, Have you tried using an injector cleaning additive may be a cheap fix. My astra used to do the same, I took the EGR Valve off cleaned it with brake/clutch cleaner put it back on, added fuel additive and took the car for a good clear out on the A1m 10 miles at 100+ did the trick as it'snever gone back in limp mode in 3 years.
  3. I can't believe the levels people go to sell there pups, quite sad really. As folk with little or no knowledge with get taken in by the advert. I would never even consider breeding a litter from two blues, seen several and they lacked bone and had very poor coats. Thomas's dog dodge is worked i'm not doubting that, however as mentioned above he lets his dog cover anything as long as he gets paid the stud fee and he lost my respect when he posed photographs on a facebook page of the dog stuck up russel bitch!!. If you advertise them on gumtree mate i'm sure there will be someone out the
  4. I'd really like one of your knifes with a gut hook. I'm fed up of buying knifes that don't keep there edge.
  5. My dog caught this one night, i chinned it as normal and it's tooth went right through the palm of my hand. Hence i no longer chin them anymore!!
  6. You always post about whippets having skin like clingfilm Cleanspade, My mates beddy x has had more stitches than any of my whippets put together and they ferret, lamp and mooch on exactly the same ground. For the land around here the Whippets suit me and do everything i ask of them, wouldn't have a beddy x given me now as a whippet can do what a whippet x beddy can do and more. The beddy x whippets i've been out with are as hard mouthed as hell, they yap, there headstrong and shiver like hell when wet. They just don't seem to have the coat like the beddyxwhippets of the late 's early 90's
  7. Don't know for sure mate as never run it down totally mate, was out almost 2 hours last night. It says 3 hours continuosly on in the instructions mate which i won't disagree with as it's only an LED and it only took an hour to charge after lastnight. I won't charge it after tonight ans i'll see how long it lasts throughout next week. If you want to borrow it anytime mate let me know.
  8. Mine don't mind the weather mate, but then again there out in if often enough.
  9. Depends on the individual dog mate, Vixen was entered around 10 months
  10. Took my Young whippet Dog out lastnight he caught 11/11 runs, he runs down the beam much better than when i use the lightforce striker.
  11. Vixen my Fawn bitch has never killed a rabbit in her life, infact she can be a little too soft mouthed at times. In My opinion it's how you enter a whippet, if you enter them too young they soon realise it's much easier to carry a dead rabbit than one thats still alive. Thats why i only enter whippets when there both mentally and physically mature.
  12. There really handy for an hour or two lamping the small fields around here with the whippets. I've been running my younger dog tonight and he's run the beam better than he's ever run it tonight mate only missing 2 from 12 runs. He caught 5 squatters without them even moving out there seat and thats on land i've been lamping since september!!. I like the low beam too as it's great for getting through hedges and over ditches etc.

    All ok here Ian
  14. I bought a new lamp at the weekend at the Gamekeepers fair at catton park. To be honest i didn't expect too much as it was only £45 but i was very surprised with it tonight. I took the whippet for a run and it has a great tight beam out to 300 yards its got a built in battery and it weighs about a pound. I've put some nylon cord through the handle so it'sagainst my chest when not in use and i've a hand free. http://clulite.cluson.co.uk/led-torches/357-clubriter-rechargeable-led-hand-torch.html Just noticed that you can buy filters for it too, but to be honest with the way the rabbits s
  15. Winchester SX3 mate everytime. I have a friend who owns a gunshop who shoots alot of geese and pigeons and thats all he ever uses, there extremely reliable and don't cost the earth. You'll get an FAC one for around £850 giving you plenty left for cartridges. I borrowed his and i don't think he's ever cleaned it and it was still cycling with no problem. If i had the money for a new semi i would buy a Winchester SX3
  16. Cheers, Must get around to updating it though as i've dozens more photo's to sort out and put on.
  17. I remember that day well mate as you keep reminding me lol. We've had some good days and nights out in the field havn't we. Especally that night we went out for just a few rabbits and came back witha cassarole (well everything to put in one including the spuds lol). Not just with the dogs either, i'll never forget your face when you shot your first greyleg and then bugger me the next morning you shot your first canada!!!. We've certainly filled a freezer or two on our days/nights out in the field, just how it should be
  18. As above, i'm in the Retford area North Notts, catching almost everyday now so if you want a call bird and can collect just pm me you phone number and i'll call you when i have you one. Obviously no charge..
  19. James pesonally i believe stamina is in the breeding, i've a friend with a race bred ped whippet and it can;t live with vixen or sagar, after 2 hours ferreting it just goes and sits on my jacket as it's had enough mate. where my whippets will work all day. Your dogs are in super condition mate, the work you put into your dogs is there to see. Thankyou mate, It's taken me 10 years to get the dogs i've got today and alot of thought and research has gone into there breeding etc. I've made the odd mistake along the way but i'm proud of what i have now. I'm more than happy with t
  20. Thats a great tool, just checked mine lol.
  21. Theres one here mate, sony mini DV mint condition very little use. I'll take £100 for it and i'm near Doncaster. Going digging in 5 minutes so pm me if your interested. I WONT post it though.
  22. Totally agree mate, your much better getting a pup and training it yourself. I've a springer pup booked and hopefully she'll be with me in the Autumn. I don't know what i'm letting myself in for but i will give her my best shot. She'll be my first springer, i've a labrador at the moment but she's 6 now and the work i do with the dogs has changed, i now do much more dogging in, (flushing poults back to the woods) and the labrador does a great job and trys her best but a springer would be much better
  23. Try these mate but don't forget to get a choke key as well http://www.teagueprecisionchokesltd.co.uk/
  24. The newer models are much better than the first ones they made. I had one of the first and i just blew it to bits, it only lasted me 2 seasons.
