  1. did'nt have a real day out but after we lifted the pen wire checked out the hoppers and fed the ponds and burn we had a little bit of a dog about put up some good strong flyers but as they made for the woods we drive we did'nt lift the gun .Down in the more wet and reedy ground not so many pheasants but a few duck and snipe where flushed again not shot at left for another day all in all the dogs got to flush birds more than rabbits for a change and i got a chance to run after my dog as she took after a few low flyers. (better to check her now than during a proper day) and i did have an excuse

  3. Just an update we have all our guns for our shoot . As a thank you to the lads who on a shoot day work there dogs we have one or two rough days over the areas we dont shoot on the syndicate days if you have a dog and gun and you are insured you can join us for the sum of £50 FOR MORE INFO PM ME.thanks.Afew days in DEC. pm for info.
  4. the one i have on my sako rimfire is good and does the job and its ok with a scope lamp stuck on top.
  5. pet labs give labs a bad image but when you see workers like these good uns they are a credit to there owners and our sport.
  6. put an obsticle between him and his food at feeding time and when he jumps over to get his dinner give a command such as over dont make it high make it easy at first.

  8. the old petrol models are bloody good work horses and last we have a honda thats 24years old . and kawasaki bayou 22years old both have had a hard life but still working so they are good value for the money we paid for them 8 years ago .you can get into areas that a 4x4 cant they do less damage to the fields. 360 vision cover the ground faster. hitch a little trailer on the back fill it with bags of corn get the corn right up to your feeders saves a lot of work and time.err but you do get cold and wet then again you would get cold and wet if you cut the top of a 4x4. atb.just an after thuogh
  9. update forgot about this problem until we started useing again .sorted the spinner was loose on the spindle so it was droppind down makeing the gap between the hopper and the spinner to big so it was letting the corn flow out nipped up the grub screw ok now.

  11. i adjusted mine after googling howa trigger adjustment you will find a step by step instruction WARNING if you are not sure what you are doing then get a gunsmith TO DO IT.ATB.BY THE WAY THE PULL ON MINE WAS JUST UNDER 4 lb

  13. sorry did'nt read your post properly .But the farm may be contracted to a merchant at that price the current price for feed wheat is £137. this time last rear approx £90 .so if you shop around the few arables you have you may come up with an independent and a good price.for the market price go to www.fwi.co.uk. if you know the market price then it helps when haggling.ps click on prices and trends then markets at a glance hope this helps a.t.b.
  14. we bought 6 ton last year to feed 650 birds from poults thro the season, and a bit for the springtime, mind I think we fed alot of pigeons, squirrels and several roe deer, just had a phone call from local grain farmer, prices tis year :- WHEAT £180 PER TON IT WAS £130 LAST YEAR BARLEY £170 PER TON NOT SURE WHAT LAST WAS BUT PROB ABOUT £115 THATS GOING TO HURT I`LL BE GOING CAP IN HAND TO THE LADS FOR SOME MONEY if you where paying £130 per ton last year i would look for a new supplier try the farm direct the grain merchant is the midd

  16. we dont mix it we normaly change over to corn at about 13 -14 weeks to early and the poults will just peck out all the corn to get to the pellets mind you i am not a keeper but this is what we have found works on our shoot.Hopefully a keeper member on this site will be able to advice you in more detail.atb.

  18. Get the dog trained up first you will have a better chance of joining a beating team if you have a good working dog. plus the commitment shown in training your dog lets others know that you are serious about hunting.atb

  21. i can tell if someone is switched onto dogs just by their reaction when i tell them that my dogs are kept outside in a kennel all the time winter or summer.
