    have you had a word with the goldie working/ trialing clubs a friend of the wifes Jen Hay has worked them and trialed for years i think she is an international judge now so i think there are good working lines out there you just got to get the right type of dog.

    we top up a few hoppers in the areas that we see birds at the end of the season and with experience you find out when you come to bring in the hoppers which ones are feeding and which still have corn left as we have a small stock of wild birds and they naturaly hang about our shoot we give them something to eat . but if your ground does'nt hold birds unless you feed them then i would'nt bother because they will do a runner as soon as they find natural food in other areas hope this makes sense also depends on how many birds are left on the shoot after shooting 78% + .ps we have had a poor seas

    we check the hoppers every week and top up when required feed water and ponds every week but only the burns when the ponds are frozen up to now three tones wheat and a about 1/2 ton barley used.The BIRDS ARE FEEDING HARD WITH THIS COLD SNAP .

    captive bolt is safe and best for the job i have had to use 12 bore with magnums back of the head into the scull.

    The way me and a pal got some land to work the spanials the way we wanted was to lease land for a shoot we run the shoot to be able to pay for the rent other wise we could'nt afford it.Some folks are lucky and get there permission by dealing with the vermin or helping out on a shoot good luck.

    as said before it will come when game is about personely i would hunt the dog on its own first if just follows other dog then she does,nt seem to be competitive and she may be a little submisive to the other dog .try hideing tit bits like jerky into light cover at first and as she get into it then place the titbits into harder cover so it becomes a game with a reward when she enters and finds plus plenty of praise from you.atb .
