  1. for a purebred id say whippet for rabbit heres my colliexgrey/whippet
  2. if you were hunting rabbits on nice flat fields then i bet it would be a little rocket,but probly wont like the cold or rough terrain,stick with a pure whippet, pound for pound its the fastest accelerating animal in the world ive got a colliexgrey/whippet shes great on rabbits
  3. mine sunbathes, gets too hot and then finds some shade and cools down i dont excersise in the heat of a hot day,just a walk, i wait till its cooler for retrieving
  4. hello everyone,my 12month lurcher has not had her dew claws removed,now ive read that its ok for runnings dogs too have them and, ive read that they should always be removed from a young age,as she has still got them im thinking of tapeing them up as will be lamping with her when the season kicks off ,would you lot also recommend tapeing,and if so what?(vet tape,bandage) cheers rich

  6. is it illegal?,as theres mixed opinions here, i purchased it from a company that advertises in a weekly brought magazine that many of you probably buy(not naming names incase it is ilegal) cheers for the advice everyone, great help. and also i dont know anyone too offer advice on snaring, its just me and my lurcher hw99, and a few acres.
  7. hello i have just purchased some rabbit snares and a fox snare,now the rabbit snares i understand how to use them,but this fox snare has a open end. could anyone explain what i have to do to attach this to a post tree etc as have a fox nearby who has now noticed i have ducks i am setting the snare where the fox travels but not sure how i use this open end do i have to purchase the end peice that crimps on the wire ? any help would be great as i want too make sure it is set correctly.it also came with a small srait peice of metal with two 3mm holes in it similar too what the black brackets on
  8. i feed my bitch rabbits as and when i get them,was feeding them raw untill i was told id be loading them with worms so now will freeze,i cook up lamb heart with vegtables refridgerated it in a container and feed with arden grange,raw lamb neck and marrow bones as treats on weekend, she doin good

  11. hi all,i have just noticed on the inside of my lurchers knee,there are three spots two of which are raised more so than the other. they are approx 177 pellet size and slightly raised,they are dark pink in colour,she doesnt seem bothered by them. she will be going too the vets tomorow,but i am curious as too what its and whether you guys could shed some light on the matter please reply,many thanks,richard. pics

  14. ive read a few and in my opinion jakie drakeford understanding the working lurcher brilliant read excellent training methods, hunting tips,bringing on,recall everything,plummers books are good too,also the countrymans weekly has usually a few pages on lurchers every week.
  15. i have a whippet/collie x greyhound shes lightning quick with the brains aswell,try and get some working dog in the mix
  16. just last winter i brought a nitestalker 220 this is my first lamp i got, as only had a lurcher for a year, very long beam on it, i was put off the lightforce range as after reading posts on here of bad wiring, i decided reliability was more important than a slightly tighter beam.you can get your battery from debens website http://www.deben.com/lights_lamping/batter...ttery_packs.php hope this helps

  18. get yourself (jakie drakeford, understanding the working lurcher) out of all the books this is the best by far,this book helped me with many little problems i had with my first lurcher,she now 12month and im really pleased with her
  19. yea it does locate on the gun,get yourself a one piece mount,better than 2 piece
  20. good post! i use air arms field(roundhead)and think there great,have used bsa high impact and find them quite inacurate
  21. no i diddnt build it my grandad did about 20 years ago, i just strimmed it all down and built the duck house,do you give your ducks anything else ie:bread, vegtables etc,as i am new too keeping ducks
