  1. Lovely Pup Corky John, did you breed him yourself?
  2. Cracking Russell here. Ryan and Dbritt you keep a very handy sort too, well done
  3. Well Ray, the bitch turned out well for you Ray, they'll be different dogs next season, the first season is always very mixed with hounds and after the first season they will be flying. With the beagle they all seem to hunt rabbit, the father of your dog would have too but was a completly different dog at a fox.
  4. Black dog was a racier looking dog so think thats why he pipped it, judge took a long hard think about that one. Nice to see a worker come 2nd in the terrier section also
  5. i dont know but the 4 dogs in the ring where all crackers but the 3 judges picked it and thats how it goes and i dont see any reason why it should not have got it he was a fine animal just my opinion thats all, not knocking the show or judges. Judge had a tough call in, IMO the red 5/8 dog should have won it over the black dog but every man to their own
  6. Cracking show today Well run and have to say thought the terrier judge was excellent, checked over the dogs thoroughly and was an all round gent. Keep up the good work, will be down to this one again next year
  7. If i remember correctly he kept what looked like deerhound types,i think he also kept irish terrierxs and he started breeding the wheatonxs then aswell. You are correct Fat Man with the Irish terrier x's, he did breed these and a few ended up our way. These were very descent all rounders, i know lads that kept them for hares and they also accounted for a lot of foxes. Very smart fly animals, seen these dogs work and they had nothing to learn
  8. Will check John, he'd be in around the 24.5 mark im guessing. Bit of growing to do yet, this last month hee has changed totally. His brother is a ball of hair, lol, how rough is the coat on him?? He had a pile of loose curls and i stripped saturday past, he his just broken coated at the minute but his coat will change to a rough coat i'd say.

  10. Well John, Just an update on the pup. Doing real well, good well mannered animal, have him broken too stock and is good with other dogs.
  11. Think a young dog that is too hard for his own good should be dug regular to try and get him to come away from his hardness, as i said it will make them or break them. I would hope and like to think that eventually they will bark and learn from the errors. Defination of deep can vary from man to man GD Waz. Too me you should know exactly were you are putting your young dog into, last year i made the mistake of putting a young dog into a spot which i did not know, Luckily enough it faired out in the end.
  12. Good post Kevin Em, i think a young dog should have it easy for 4/5 digs in nicely chosen spots you know there ain't going to be any problems. After these 4/5 digs the anti should be upped and taken to a couple of bigger tests, (i do not mean huge sprawling places were stuff will run alday). Places were the dog will have to search that bit more and stay that bit more than he did in the previous 4/5 digs. 12 or so digs is sufficeint in a first season. Hard dogs can be a different proposition but heres a question 'Do you work the dog one week and let him heal fully and a month later go out a
  13. I know that fox numbers close to me are very low and last season failed too find foxes in places i've been getting plenty in past years but as you say trigger happy riflemen and gun gangs causing problems. Have stumbled upon foxes lying dead in the middle of fields that have been hit with rifles.
  14. lts a disgrace mate,no respect for land or the farmer and no permission lm from armagh city an never hunted in s armagh, thers tat many gangs now going around and beating cover 3 an 4 jeep loads and there coming from everywere, cause they have there own area puked till death Correcto Irish Steve. I know who they are. They have all their stuff killed around mid august. Thats the mentality of these lads. I seen them at a bog 3 weekends in a row, they keep going back till they get every one and not too many get away as there is maybe 15 off them. A real shame too see.
  15. Its all a good idea but i think it would go down like a lead balloon. As Jimmy's Shop said how do you weed the good from the bad. Jimmy's shop is very correct about anti's maybe getting into the proposed club. The problem i think would arise is the actual working dog men bickering within the club. You are always going to get some clown in the club that likes the sound of his own voice and will spread the business of the club all over the country and end up giving information to the wrong people.
  16. Hard to see a good plummer making digging dog
  17. Good debate here lad, fact is there is a lot off shite being bred around the country out of crap greyhounds just so lads can line their pockets. If anyone had red Dave Sleights recent articles in EDRD he talked a lot of sense and said, any old greyhound will not do.
  18. Internet Hunter that was a good post and hit the nail o the head imo. Personally i don't like any more than three types in the makeup of any dog. The amount off crap for sale is unbelievable, as Internet hunter says find the best greyhound, i.e. one that you yourself has tested and has good attributes ie feet etc and breed from that dog/bitch and then you know exactly what you have from day one and not some half door making up percentages over the phone.
  19. How did Prevalance get on on the first day, seen him hammer competition in Dundalk.
  20. I have a harrier bitch and shes light at giving tongue but when she does tongue you know she is close too her fox, this has always been the way she is but i am very happy with her as i have seen a few hounds this season that are tongueing in cover as soon as there in and nothing there. I think they just seem to click and after that she'll not look back.
  21. Good cross to have but the can't see how there is many irish terrier bred lurchers out there when if truth be told there is so few working irish terrier's about. Saying that a there is a dog that hunts with us that has irish terrier in him and hes a super animal. He marks foxes to ground and works bogs and cover like a hound, he's a very smart animal.
  22. 31ST it starts, Good one Tango, something like this might do wetdogsmell
  23. Genius, all's you's dublin lads get on it and say fuk all too your half way up the road. No doubt there reading this post.
