    Some people do airtests,others have test beds with a couple of coins buried at known depths,others just go ahead and use their machine after passing their coil over coins on a lawn,its all about getting to know your machine and how it reacts.

    Sounds about right with the tibetans,i tried running at a whisker under 4700 metres,at the time my cardio was fantastic,and stamina,but at height i was wheezing and puffing like an octogenarian asthmatic with a 40 fag a day habit,the locals didnt seen affected.

    This is difficult,these are the people i stayed with years ago,a place called sitangkai,the high street floods every day with the incoming tide,they used to say that the badjao come ashore once in their lifetime and thats when they die,the kids swim before they can walk,their entire income used to be from the sea,nowadays they smuggle goods and people,and some beg in the harbours of cities like cebu diving for coins thrown from passanger boats. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MgRpwESWPLM

    Yup,cyanide fishing is just as bad,very very easy to buy cyanide cheaply,they puff it over sections of coral and see what comes out,i have been to an aquarium exporters in cebu,massive amounts of shells and coral stockpiled and he sent huge amounts of fish abroad,very lucrative living,85% of the aquarium fish stateside are purported to come from the philippines and indonesian reefs,these live fish are all caught with cyanide.

    Yes,i did see the other side as well,ghost reefs,either from carbide bombs,cyanide (which is very easy to buy) and pa-aling fishing which smashes a reef to a pulp and removes all but the tiniest fish,it looks like an underwater atomic bomb has hit a reef.

    I snorkelled often with the badjao on pristine riefs,i used to snorkel around their seaweed farms,incredible places,it was like swimming in a huge tropical aquarium,the colours were dazzling,nemo was everywhere,they spearfish for food,used homemade spearguns,i put loads of pics up before.

    Quite a number of firms offer spearfishing/freediving trips,seen them advertised offering spearfishing everywhere from ascension island to bali.
