A total of 17 men and one woman have now been convicted of a string of offences and face jail when they are sentenced next month. Four of the men - Mohammed Ali, Solful Islam, Yasser Hussain and Redwan Siddquee - have already been sent to prison for a total of 20 years and four months. Northumbria Police Chief Constable Steve Ashman said in a statement today: 'To date we have arrested 461 people, spoken to 703 potential complainants and have found 278 victims. 'In total we now have 93 convictions delivering more than 300 years of imprisonment in addition to today's convictions.'

18 people convicted after girls and young women groomed, drugged and raped in Newcastle Under-age girls and vulnerable young women were taken to parties in Newcastle and groomed with drugs before being raped and sexually abused, it can now be reported. There's terrapins in loads of ponds and lakes across the UK and they can utterly destroy fish stocks and even take young waterfowl. Been around since the 80s when loads of kids got pet terrapins with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles craze then dumped them when they got too big, it's not supposed to be warm enough for them to successfully reproduce but there's been a few in a pond in the park near my sister for at least 15 years and last year young were spotted for the first time. The Sunderland Echo ran a contest once when I was at school the prize was £10 for the biggest stickleback caught in Mowbray Park duck pond I went with a small seine type net and netted a stream for minnows,they looked huge in comparison to sticklebacks,my mate Metts said he caught it in Mowbray park,we split the tenner and he got his pic in the Echo holding a jam-jar with the fish in The end justifies the means
