I got my Vulcan a Mk 2 with salmon money from a shop in Sunderland,I would have loved an innova or the next level up,was it an ace?I had a single barrel .410 and a .22 rimfire while still at school.

I sat down on a pavement the other week and had a chat with a really nice homeless bloke from hull,he was sitting on his bag smoking stardog and even offered me a puff on his spliff,been on the streets for 20 years,his only complaint was the price of weed nowadays.People walked past oblivious to him,I gave him a couple of quid and he laughed,Any one of us could take a left instead of a right at that fork in the road and end up somewhere we don’t want to be,I would like to think I never judge these people by the cover of their book of life.

Apparently he was stoned and pissed at the party.All sorts of outlandish theories including he might still be stuck to the cactus that cut his leg or he is in hiding and will emerge to collect the GoFund me,someone suggested flying over the route dropping food and water,another said blast drum and bass music out of giant speakers to attract him.

I think my cousin painted herself into a bit of a corner,kids and grandchildren live in England,when her dad got I’ll and died in Sunderland it was quite a trek.

My cousin lives in Caithness,between Thurso and cape wrath,an absolutely desolate place,been there maybe 30 years,moved there with her husband who thought it a good idea.They were young when they went,had health problems since,her kids who were born up there all moved south of the border,I have been up there a few times in the winter and I class myself as fairly adaptable,my cousin told my sis she regrets the move,it’s an acquired taste and not for everyone.

The partner is crucial,most people can’t comprehend true wilderness 50-100 km from your nearest neighbour,there’s no WiFi,couple of feet of snow outside,don’t forget the teabags and milk when you make the 200km round trip to the store.

Immigrant areas certainly,Canada I have seen it with corn and strawberries,taco stands and stuff in California,seen Nigerian ladies in Italy in lay-byes selling their “wares”,London itself is full of illegal immigrant street traders.
