  1. I think that it is not the fact it is hidden away - it is at the top of the page with a graphic (not that difficult to miss), but more the case that unfortunately there are other forums where this subject has already got a wealth of information for newbies to read through. Maybe we need to generate a few more topics to revitalise it.
  2. Just curious to see what you all use as part of your kit. I have a widgeon whistle which to be honest I rarely use, a foxcall.co.uk thing!, and I also use have a couple of mobile phones with mp3 calls on (one so I can leave it in the field and I set the ringtone to to be the fox call, and call it when I need to attract the fox), as ever I think some of the older/wiser foxes have got use to my collection of sounds and I may be on the look out for more callers.....so lets get this topic started.
  3. Trying to think about this logically (I do not claim to be a ballistics expert) you are probabally right the bullet drops quicker but the I would imagine the distance it would travel would be greater, thus cancelling out this as being the only reason to choose this calibre. I use a 22-250 calibre which is another good foxing round and is legal for shooting roe (in Scotland).
  4. Went back down to the chicken farm last night as the other night we saw 5 foxes but foolish I only had 3 bullets! Anyway it had been raining quite a bit and we had to keep off the fields and stick to the tracks as I didn't fancy putting in another midnight phonecall to Jimmy to drag me out of the mud! As we drove down the track to the top chicken shed I stopped the car and kept the lamp off and put on the NV on the rifle and there it was heading off into the distance. I tried calling it in but it wasn;t interested and it lingered by the fence on the boundary (400 yards away). We decided to
  5. I had a mate that had one, and he thought it was brilliant, and he used to give it a really hard time, but like most things Eastern european they may not have much street cred or looks but they a hard wearing and designed that even when they break down they are simple to repair. Good luck. Post some pics when you get one.
  6. One more dog fox less to worry about at the chicken farm.
  7. 19 so far....and judging from last night still a good few milling round by the chicken farm.
  8. As you can see from the close up it did need some dental work lol!
  9. If Carlsberg were to do foxing that what it would be like.....brilliant!
  10. Nice shooting. When I use the NV it is sometimes even harder to find them when I am the only one that saw it lol!
  11. I could lie and say 200+ but I prefer honesty.... it was about 78 yards when we paced it out.
  12. quote] what caliber rifle ? 22/250 ? I am still using the 22-250
  13. Damn fine shooting with a .22 if you can get a fox in that close!
  14. Arrived down at the farm drove to the top field and flicked the lamp round and picked up a set of eyes, so i jumped out the pickup and grabbed the rifle and put the NV on and started to call it in. The only down side was the breeze was not in my favour and although it started to head in it stayed out at about 150 yards then started to head away. I gave a shout and it stopped and turned and I took my shot, it jumped in the air then ran about 40 yards then dropped dead.
  15. I am using a Howa 1500 with NV (ATN Trident Pro 6X)
  16. I hope you are being sarcastic as 'king of smirnoff ice' thats like a guy bragging he is the best hairdresser in town!
  17. Certainly not bad in my book for a couple of hours shooting.
  18. Thank god in Scotland we don't have all this fuss!
  19. As everyone says go for 12g as ammo is cheaper. As for a semi-auto just bear in mind they tend to need a lot more stripping down and cleaning to keep them cycling cartridges probably. As for comments about acceptability on pheasant shoots and clay clubs there are plenty that don't mind, so go for which one you like the most. ...... At the end of the day in six months time you will probably by another gun anyway so you will have both.
  20. 40,000 at a time !!! Are you supplying the Taliban or something! Even if you are getting a 1,000 for £100 are you telling us you spend £4,000 a time !
  21. I was wondering when someone was going to get this back on topic lol ! Thanks for the advice I will look into these can you suggest any websites etc?
  22. quote] What tyres have you got on? This would be the first thing to change for me. Get some BFG all terrains if you use your L200 on the road lots, but still want OK tyres for off road, Or go for any type of Mud Terrain tyre if you are mainly off road. These tyres should stop you getting stuck all the places you go in L200's. If you are set on putting a winch on, Come up winches are very good for the money. You will also need a winch plate, and get it welded or bolted to the chassis, as well as cutting your bumper and grill up so it will fit. Winches kill batterys too, so you may have to pu
  23. Following last nights events .....getting stuck in the mud (luckily a mate came and pulled us out....Thanks Jimmy).I thought maybe I should consider getting a winch. Anyone any recommendations ? Or any 4X4 garages in central Scotland.
