    Very simple, in my opinion ! If it is for Whippets only, then show your papers ! No papers ? then go in the lurcher class. I was going to shows 45 year ago, when we sat in a pub and decided to have a show, then the racing came along, and ANY running dog, no matter what size, breed or coat, ran against each other..FOR A BIT OF FUN !! Now, it isn't "Lurcher" racing, It seems to me, to be racing for people who are running race bred dogs, but are afraid to race against their peers, out of traps, at a real track ! These dogs will beat my working dogs every time over stupid distances like 150 yards.

    crap,,,,,when clubs hold opens ,,championships,yours saying they dont have time to run there dogs,,,offcouse they do,,,and should do as whats the point,,,i work at scottish derby,,,and i race,,,,if i wasnt aloud to race due to plls saying i work and shouldnt be aloud,,then somone would have to take my place,,,as i wouldnt show up ,,end off it been done that way for years,,u work,,u should always be aloud to race ,,,,if anyone had a problem with it,,,then they can always put themself forward,, if they aint happy lol

    your right dogs can turn,,,,but i know some heavy well built dogs cant turn,,,,,,,it all depends on the speed they reach and height dont post on here if ya dont know,,,,,ive seen the old fashion bully types cant and some can,,,but ive seen many not turn and whack straight into tree or fence,,,,uve answered ur own post it comes down to determination,,,,yet a similar dog can fall in that trap themselfs,,and be half a ton lighter and built and be as skinny as a ss whippet lol
