  1. Last year in the cemy, I came so close to dropping 2 bunnies with one shot, then one moved. I was certainly close enough to do them both through the head Remember me saying about it Aaron? They were both very young kits sat side by side and I reckon one pellet would have dropped em both. I've only seen one person prove a one shot two kills on video and that was James Douglass on one of his films. Called it his "Party Piece" 2 Starlings, but they were both body shots and I'm not a fan of those so would never try it myself (even if it was legal to shoot them still). Phantom
  2. Cheers Jasp I'm awaiting the rain to stop and then I'm off to bait up the cemetery and do what I do best on there Just hoping I get no more manky bucks from there. Walk little.... Look Much.... I've heard that before and it makes perfect sense As for them crawling things in your undies, you can go to the chemist and get stuff for that these days you know its all confidential as well and no one here will tell your missus Phantom
  3. Who you calling a Tart? Like you admitted, it was YOU chatting up the butch bloke in the other field not me Soz Bud, but you left yourself wide open for that :11: And yes please if you would be so kind the offcuts would be useful and any chance of a tin of JSB Exacts? I'd like to give em a try. Let Rodney know I will Square up with him as soon as this appeal is heard and they give me what they owe me (may even be able to order a scope off him as well ) Phantom
  4. Hey Richard, it does look very much like the BBMF Long. But the BBMF has metal cylindrical spacers witht he felts inside them. I was thinking of this subject last night and I seem to remember back in the 's (when my love of airgunning really kicked into gear) that there was a page in either Military Mart or Gun Mart (or sonething along those lines) with an advert showing a silencer with felts similar to the ones in the OP's pic. Perhaps an early Parker Hale job Phantom
  5. Hey bud, is this the one you wanted? http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=113933 Phantom
  6. Couldn't find Busters thread on here so went to another source (a text file in my archive of usefull info). Here's his write up Optical Centering To get the best performance from a scope, its adjustment knobs need to be in the optimum range, which is very close to the scope's optical center. What is the optical center of a scope? The optical center refers to the reticle and the field of view. An optically-centered scope shows zero reticle movement against a distant backdrop when the scope tube is rotated in a complete circle. Theoretically, that's possible to achieve. The
  7. Another thought for you to try is to 'Optically Centre' it then fit it to the gun and start from there, Its a pain in the ass to do but usually very effective. Buster did a hell of a write up on how to do it correctly I'll see if I can find it for you. Another way would be to turn the turret to the very top, then count how many clicks it takes to get to the bottom, then do the same with the windage turret and divide both and set your starting point at exactly halfway between the number of clicks. Again a pain in the ass, but its a good starting point. Also bring your target (or move
  8. We can now pretty much rule out the earlier HW's Been Trawling the net and the closest one I can come up with is a Swift. However the swift silencer is shorter and has Steel Baffles rather than plastic, however they could have been changed by a previous owner. Thats the only silencer I can find with felt spacers. Sorry I cant be much more help with your question. All the best Phantom
  9. Can certainly rule out the newer Weirauch ones as there is no Hair Curlers or ScotchBright scouring pad in it. Not sure how the older Weirauch Silencers were constructed Phantom
  10. It certainly should be for general quarry at normal ranges. I'd still like to know what pellet they used though to get that reading. Bung some AAF's through it and borrow a chrono from someone near you or borrow the range one. That will put his and your mind at ease and help sell the gun quicker Take care Phantom
  11. Very Odd Just been on the smk web site and it gives the .22 as running at 185 M/S so I cranked up good ol'e CGP and put in 185 M/S using AAF's and the power output works out as 13.03 FT/LBS Wonder what pellets they used? SMK Spits? Recalculated with Beeman SilverBear (lightest in the database) comes out at 10.24 ft/lbs which is similar to what my SMK XS19 produces and that is more than enough power to drop bunnies at normal airgun ranges (35 yards) and indeed can (if your good enough) drop at longer ranges Phantom
  12. Not the AA one, the bevel seems to be too steep and the internals are not the same as the AA. Is that all the internals? No spacers or springs? Phantom
  13. Excellent work Buddy Nice piece of land that, I was suprised you chose the gate as it was against the skyline from bug's viewpoint and every time you moved, you would have been fairly obvious to ol'e bugs. Just goes to show that there are NO hard and fast rules at all in this game doesn't it I love my Sniping, thats how I got the nickname in my Sig Well done again both on the shooting and the write up I did enjoy that Phantom
  14. I take it Mr Davy is desperate to make up some points Go Geddum Boy Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaa (best Cleatus the redneck yokel voice) Phantom
  15. WOW What a Marksman :notworthy: Well done to you all, a most productive forray indeed Excellent work Gents Phantom
  16. With that many in the bag, you soon will be fat enough to require a new truck Jammy buggers, Guess that answers my question as to do the bunnies, stay in to play when the Moons up. I didn't see any last night (apart from one where I cant shoot) Phantom
  17. Why you aint that fat  Unlike me Phantom
  18. I had the same problem with them in my pistols. I tried them in the rifle, purely to see the penetration of the .22 at 11ft/lbs. Like I said earlier, still got the 4 tubs of them Feel guilty for not using them as they were an xmas gift from my lad. Phantom
  19. Not shot any Rats But it was shooting the mice in my shed that got me into hunting Phantom
  20. Hi waidmann, No the Sabot jobbies have a flange type jacket that springs open somewhere between leaving the muzzle and hitting the target. They were initially developed for military or special forces I believe and the idea was that a round would kill or injure the target but would not hold any Striations that could identify which barrel it was fired from, this was perfect for assasination jobs They were then developed for airguns years back but suddenly ceased to exist again I am lead to believe that (and I am open to correction as always) the guy who developed the promethius pellets
  21. I was seriously thinking about trying the Gamo Raptor PBA pellets (Poly Ballistic Alloy) these are 18k GOLD PLATED pellets, that should give (according to Gamo) a 25% increase in velocity. Since thinking about it, I have read many reviews of them on review-centre, etc and I have found only one review that claimed anything but crap about them and that reviewer said that they were by far the SINGLE most EXPENSIVE pellet he has ever fired. Gamo, claimed match accuracy at 30 yards aparently, most people were getting 1 to 3 inch groups, so if that match grade accuracy, then I'm taking all
  22. I wholeheartedly agree There is a place in Ferriby thats crawling with em, but they won't let me in to shoot em Phantom
  23. Thank you buddy, No not as yet. I have been looking on the net to try and get details of the organisation you mentioned, but haven't found any fererance to it yet Do you by any chance have a number for it or perhaps an address that you could PM me? I went past the Mannor House earlier this week, but as I was on my way to a medical appointment in Beverley, we didn't have time to stop Do you know the name of the people there? I would like to make my 1st contact either by letter or email (have been more sucessful than cold calling) All the best Phantom
  24. Excellent going Chris Tree Rats on your permission huh, send some of them my way will yah? I do so want to bag me a squizzer Nice little write up as well Take care. Phantom
  25. Thanks guy's, I went out last night (well it was about 5:45) did a bit of ranging with the mildots and paper targets. The heavens became black with cloud, so I got into my bivvi bag thats waterproof. the wind was blowing towards me and I stayed there until 21:00, not a single bunny came out Decided to have a walk around the bone yard, only saw one and it was inside the old ladies garden, where I cant shoot Very strange night, it didnt actually rain, but the moon is 3/4's full so perhaps they just didn't want to risk it?
