  1. Nice one Archie A friend of mine has a couple, they are her "Boys" although her husband uses them when shooting. I remember her telling me of one day while out walking with them, one of them headed off a good few yards, she heard some squealing and seconds later a baby bunny was dropped on her foot She was not impressed however the dog was chuffed to bits well the rabbit was anyway Phantom
  2. A pleasure Gent's, You'll find many of us here that will help out people with our knowlage and guidance if we can and if we can't we can usually find someone else who can We also help people out physically as and when we can, ie: take someone onto our permissions for a days shoot or share shoots with others and occasionally meet up at an agreed time for the odd competition and urine extraction session (well we have to otherwise we wouldn't get along as well as we do!) :11: Take care Phantom
  3. The head Green keeper is a start If you can talk to him he may give you thepermission or he may take it to the committie for discussion Some may even asess you via means of either recomendations from other land owners or even a formal interview in front of a panel. You certainly have nothing to loose and quite a lot to gain Phantom
  4. Very true oh great one Unfortunately though part of that legislation has now been removed, so one land owner can not take another to court even if he can prove that the damage to his own crops is being caused by the rabbits from another property Thus it becomes the responsability of the person suffering the crop damage to deal with them when said bunnies are on his land where as the person used to be able to demand that his neighbour deal with them. Now thats f'kin confusing Phantom
  5. Rossi I'll have a mod change your user name to King Crazy
  6. Hi there and welcome to the forum As with all legislation from government it's sort of down to 'interpretation' I have permission on a cemetery that states ONLY bunnies so I can't shoot other pests on that land; not even rats. I also have other permissions that allow me to take all pest/vermin species. So my interptetation would be (because non of the species at all are crossed off or specified) I am allowed to shoot them for a number of reasons that are listed under the general licenses. For example, Corvids on the paddock. They are a danger to the horses as they have been witne
  7. I should also add that you wont have to wait too long for them to pop out again after their brethren have taken their last heartbeat Usually 20 to 30 mins Phantom
  8. Hi and Welcome to the forum A silanced PCP makes as much noise as a springer when the pellets hits the skull of a bunny You can silence (to a degree) a springer, although you will not notice it with your gun next to your lugs upon firing as the action makes a noise. Silence a springer and 30 40 yards out you won't hardly hear it. Just like a pcp. However listen to the sound of lead on skull (by far the noisiest part of the kill) and you will see why a field with 10 bunnies in it will not have 10 bunnies after the 1st shot, by either a pcp or springer! If its virgin land,
  9. You do well for a phone, It takes me ages to do a simple text on a phone and I can never get on with that predictive text thing Take care Phantom
  10. Ferrals are easy to shoot in the vitals of the chest, unlike a Woody that has a lot of body armout in the form of a massice breast bone and wall of muscle. Ferrals are generally very skiny and hit em in the chest area, their dead before they hit the floor. Phantom
  11. Thanks Steve, Thats only part of the original post, I just copied that particular part of the day. Writing comes with practice, the more you do the better they become I enjoyed yours greatly I'm unable to shoot again at the moment my fingers are cracking like there is no tomorrow (having to type with just the two middle fingers and thumb). I have a feasable explanation for it now though at last!!! Apparently it's caused by a lack of vitamin E and is made worse by the cold, so I need to get some more vitamins down my gullet! The only problem with that is though, the ones I
  12. Nice work Gent's Excellent thinking Sir getting em to go where yah want em You'll be getting em to load your gun next and then stand in front and inspect the muzzle :11: Great production of feathers from the dairy, far better than Yoghurt SPA Phantom

  15. Nice read buddy I call it "The Zone" I've had a few, 2 bunnies with one shot was very memorable, but I think one of the most memorable shots I've taken was when I was ill. Here's a copy and past of the original write up. (I'd link to it, but the pix were deleted by "Tiny-Pic" Phantom
  16. Hey guy's, Speaking of combustables, I have a Swiss army Trangia stove that I used at the meet back in July. However I also got a little tin with a Gel fuel in it dirt cheap on ebay. Complete with little stand for a pan or metal cup to hea.t. It was ex Swiss forces stuff and its expirey date was 1972 this is the one http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item35ac6d6942 Comes with wooden matches, as soon as the foil was opened and the match struck it was burning, no waiting for the thing to warm the fuel before it got to optimum temp like some. Not only did it boil water faster than the
  17. I would use one for hunting However I would limit its use in hunting to spring/summer Asmentioned above, cold temperature can adversley affect the amount of liquid co2 that vapourizes hence differing muzzle velocities. Some people carry extra Co2 bulbs next to their skin to keep them warm, however this is a pointless excercise because as each shot is released and the liquid becomes gas, the cylinder cools down very rapidly. Other than that; They are superb little rifle they can be tuned easily Phantom
  18. Welcome to the forum Manco I've often heard the 707's refered to as an ugly stick as well, personally I wouldn't mind one in my collection. We have another South African Gent on here, a good bloke called Roger. Who knows maybe if your close enough to each other, you could both go batter some Rock Doves and Myna's together Again Welcome. Phantom
  19. Andy, I once ascended Mt Glaramara in the lakes in January. We began the hike and clime at just after midnight after spending much of the evening getting warm around the fire in a hotel that was closed for the season. Luckily there was a care taker and his rather tasty girlfriend. He couldn't pull a pint to save his life, but we didn't care the beer was free It wasn't too bad to start with but it wasn't long until we were waist deep in the fluffy white stuff and it became very hard going. Added to that, the winds got up and trying to pitch a Vango Force 10 was a nightmare at 03:00.

  21. Hey bud, The 2.5x50 simply means it's 2.5 magnification and the 50 equals the size of the objective lens The 3x60 is 60mm objective lens and magnifies the subject three times. The IR is the illuminator, best way to describe it is an InfraRed torch, you cant see the light, the quarry cant see the light, but the sensor in the scope can. I believe the Yukons are 1st or 2nd generation night vision. There are many people on here that use the Yukon systems. Hope that helps? Phantom

I asked him what was wrong and when he recovered he said
