Never flew hares mate.I prefered to fly a wide variety of quarry rather than keep a bird just for hares which is the way most lads do it that fly hares with Harrises.Plus I never fancied my bird getting kicked to pieces

I dont think there's many people if any over here that a regularly taking foxes or deer with birds mate.You hear plenty of talk about it but Ive never seen any proof.Think most people have them as a cock extension.

Yeah I used to lamp mine if I was struggling getting enough daylight hunting time during Dec/jan.Yeah definitely too small for munty.A good female will just about take hares but lads that fly hares a lot usually only fly them exclusively on hares as if the get to fly rabbits or easier quarry they will usually start blanking hares.At the end of the day birds of prey are opportunists that will always take the easiest option for a meal.

I think Harrises are under rated mate.I think they get a bird name because they are so forgiving that a lot of idiots get away with keeping them so a lot of people dont get to see them perform to their full potential wheras the same idiots would either loose or kill a gos.But a harris conditioned right and flown hard and regular aint no slouch and is probably more versatile than most other species out there.

f**k that.Me and a couple of pals invested in a few greyhounds a few years back.Was told as long as theyre running the appearance money more or less covers the kennel fees.Might have been alright if the poxy things weren't permanently injuring themselves.

Harrises can do that too.I see he chucked a lure out for it rather than making in and trading off ???.Youd be surprised the teamwork you can have hunting with a Harris as they naturally hunt in packs in the wild.I used to cast mine off and theyd fly from tree to tree over my dogs waiting for the dogs to bump something out of cover.

Can be right aggresive,spiteful c**ts too.to be fair they cant really do anything a decent harris wont do.Might be a bit better suited if you're flying lots of hares but unless you are on the hares all the time I dont think its worh the stroppines and higher risk of getting footed in the face

For pheasant and duck youd probably want a Gos but the aren't really a bird to be starting out with especially if you cant guarantee yo can dedicate at least a couple of hours everyday to it.I flew a male and a female harris to a decent standard for a couple of seasons before moving on to a gos and even then the f**king thing would nearly drive me round the twist some days.

You here all the talk of golies taking deer and foxes but truth be known 95%of them being flown over here have never caught anything bigger than a hare and they miss a big percentage of them.Seen more exciting flights watching little 1.6lb male hawk flying rabbits.In fact some of the best sport ive seen is merlins flying skylarks

I know a lad thats been flying smaller birds for a few years whos just started flying one.He was telling me that hes looking to buy a kevlar jacket for his little cocker because the goldie keeps whacking it.I said thats alright but what about when an old couple appear over the horizon with a yorkie terrier or a family out walking and one of the nippers has a fury hat on.F**king disaster waiting to happen

Yeah Ive spent some time in the company of a fella down here in kent who's very well known for his goldies and gos hawks.I couldnt think of anything worse than carrying one of them f**king things about all day to see a straight line flight at something a bird a 1/3 of the size can kill and give a lot mor exciting flight doing it.Also unless you can get right up in the highlands or somewher wher you can guarantee not to see anyone for miles id imagine they can be a bit of a liability.

Ive flow Harris Hawks and a Gos in the past and would love to do it again but know that its not something I could give enough time atm to do it properly but for the life of me Ive never been able to see the fascination in flying them big plodding eagles.
