    Some people say deerhounds and their crosses didn't do the job for them, whatever that involved, but I have to say that all the ones I've seen or owned have been more than capable of anything they were worked on, two being probably the best dogs I'm likely to see, no fuss, no drama, just extremely capable and effective animals. I know you say deerhounds and not x's, but a few on here recently have been slating deerhound x's. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I don't think so, alot of bringing any type on is down to how and when you perceive the time is right to enter them. No good thinking, '

    Tell the dogs that when their on their 5/6th fox or 4th buck that you wouldn't put in front of them walking , I like a walk but to say driving is no way hunting is a wee bit silly I can put that and more in front of my dog walking ....... You may put 5 bucks in front of your dogs but you wont catch 5 and sort them out on foot unless you pretend you've been in the SAS :laugh:

    Walking and driving have their pros and cons . I like a walk for all the reasons mentioned and I do think personally its better for starting dogs off , but for putting game in front of a dog you cant equal driving ,plus you can see what really the dog is doing as your a lot closer to him ,i.e. weather he is trying to catch the deer /fox or just pushing it ,as sometimes on foot you be pushed to see with distance their at .

    How much do you put in Ken?I was told some time ago that diluted and applied to the skin it was good for controlling fungal infections Cap full everyday ,you will see a difference to you and the dogs ,but like any type of supplement have off periods

    Checked over ,cleaned up/rubbed down ,Fed, Magbox for hour ,....on arriving back home in morning ,emptied out,.kenneled on own for max rest without being disturbed ,max rest , then following night or when up and about kennel runs ,rub down/brush/check over ,20mins in woods behind house (quick stretch ,empty )in house until out again

    prob nerve damage you've done , I've carried loads of the years weather it been beasts or a heavy Bergen (a Para Bergen is a lot heavier than a hat Bergen lol )never had a problem ,then one day in gym not giving it 100% concentration squatting with a silly weight I felt a twinge and ever since I've had nerve problems ,with pain in my left foot if I wear boots ,it gets worse If i and go over 17 1/2 stone so I don't lift heavy now and keep my weight around 17 at heaviest and its manageable ,I went through stage where I kept popping a disk so went private had MRS scan and confirmed it was nerve

    Its a big gamble with odds stacked against you id say ,just have a look through some of the for sale adds and the Muppets who get caught out selling who have been on there for 20th time selling dogs ,and then again my most honest dog I've ever owned was 18 months when I had her
