  1. Yes I've been using it a long time before I was told it was a Carrick Bend pretty much fool proof in that it tightens and locks onto itself Y.I.S Leeview Im led to believe that asingle knot will suffice on nylon twines when using this knot Looking for a second opinion I usually use the sheetbend but would learn this knot if there was an advantage It certainly does single knot on nylon, any nylon any thickness did a few rows with the blue P.E. that they use round show rings to prove a point suspended it from a beam and the lad put his foot in the mesh and it took his weig
  2. Yes just cast on to the loop as though it's a ring, when you done a good few rows take the loop of of the ring and undo the knot and draw it out of the row you cast on it next thread this back through an already finished row further down your net tie it again and put it back on the hook and carry on and keep repeating A word of caution DONT keep counting how many rows you've done until you've done 3 or 4needle full of knitting Good Luck Y.I.S Leeview
  3. When you start cast your first row onto short loop of draw cord about 12" knotted in a loop, this goes on your hook in the wall.14 meshes deep plus a selvedge top and bottom(these are added when your nets knitted and these being heavier(double thread) take the strain from the net on the top and bottom lines)90 rows will give you 10yds of net now halve that and you have 5yds with 100% bagging which is what you need to be looking for in a good net Chances are you wont get it finished for this season and you may do a couple more before next season it may seem daunting to start but once you sta

  5. Lee, You have now come up with one suggestion that I will address ( briefly!!!). It is totally impractical for anyone to organise shows and give free admission. Where would it end? If there was no gate there would be no show. IYO DO PEOPLE GO TO YOUR SHOWS TO SEE THE LURCHERS AND TERRIERS OR LOOK ROUND THE STALLS? CONNECTION EITHER WAY THE STALLS AND LURCHERS AND TERRIERS HAVE PAID TO BE THERE AND THEN ONCE THE LURCHERS AND TERRIERS ARE THERE THEY GET CHARGED ANOTHER 5EUROS PER CLASS PER DOG What we do is make valuable concessions to sportmen in general: 1. A Free ticket w
  6. Some truth in that why did Lowther go down? Glad to see its back up and running under a different organisation Y.I.S Leeview
  7. What length are those nets if they are 24 meshes long...????? SINDASOX on a 2"meshboard 48" or a 21/4" mesboard 60" Y.I.S Leeview Would a 2 1/4" meshboard not give you a length of 54" at 24 meshes. Sorry was getting rows confused with meshes Y.I.S Leeview
  8. Lee, Once again you come up with nothing positive - let us have your ideas on what YOU think lurcher owners want. APOLOGIES ONCE AGAIN FOR THE CAPITALS. IN THE END ONE OWNER IS GOING TO BE VERY HAPPY WITH YOUR MONEY SO WHY NOT LET THE LURCHER EXHIBITORS HAVE FREE ENTRY? THAT WILL ENSURE MANY MORE FEEL AS THOUGH THEY ARE PART OF YOUR SHOWS CROKE PARK DO THE FINAL TEAM PLAYERS HAVE TO PAY TO GET IN? I have spoken to several and they are in favour of the competitions as outlined. In 2010 we were not only satisfied but delighted with our attendances at the events we organised : 1. We r

  10. It would appear we could argue all night but you raise one useful point : What do LURCHER people really want? THATS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ASKING THEM AND LISTENING TO THEIR ANSWERS You have raised the question but not given any suggestions. Let's test out your suggestions - certainly the footfall at our competitions appears to prove we are attracting a lot of them to our shows against a very few negatives. But I am interested to hear your suggestions. YOUR HAPPY WITH YOUR ATTENDANCY THEN=COMPLACENCY I have to say I am amused at your very simplified view of the economics of running a fa
  11. did torchey get them from you? Y.I.S Leeview
  12. You really do appear to have a rather odd 'chip on your shoulder' about something. I should have thought most lurcher owners would have welcomed fresh innovative competitions instead of inaccurate and unpleasant sniping I'LL APOLOGISE NOW FOR USING CAPITALS TO HIGHLIGHT MY REPLIES ONLY NO CHIP WHATSOEVER ON MY SHOULDERS.HAVE YOU ACTUALLY ASKED LURCHER OWNERS ABOUT THESE FRESH INNOVATIVE COMPETITIONS? Your first allegation that it was a 'money making' exercise was proven to be wildly off the mark so instead of addressing my response you launch into another coupls of inaccurate diatribes.
  13. If we are putting up a great deal of prizes and prize money and not taking any entry fees for the final - can you tell me how this could 'smack of money making'? Money brings out the worst in people I thought you would of learnt from last years fiasco with your 5 nations terrier championship(sic) you may of been happy with it BUT there was more criticism than congratulatory slaps on the back Your "putting up a great deal of prizes and prize money and not taking any entry feesfor THE FINAL" is that 5 or 6dogs? How about free entry to the show for everyone entering a dog at any of your
  14. Well said tommyc just read 4 pages of this and you have nt said who your mate is? All I can gather is your not saying where he is from in Ireland? Then you go blurt out if anyone knows this mate from Belfast he's as straight as they come WOW now that narrows it down A LOT I bet your mates over the moon with you Y.I.S Leeview
  15. What has Master McGrath got to do with lurchers? he won 3 Waterloo Cups which were never sprints more endurance related over 3 days Smacks of moneymaking IMHO Y.I.S Leeview
  16. Good Luck Y.I.S Leeview
  17. Not saying they wont catch tomo but you,ve got to get there rapid as they wont be in there for long,a good net gives you a bit more time if more than 1 bolts at the same time your going to have to be real quick to dispatch and reset nets Y.I.S Leeview
  18. Well to save any other members being ripped off how about naming and shaming? Y.I.S Leeview
  19. Val Porter and Nick Brown very comprehensive and tells you everything you need to know I'd rather have D.Bezzant than the other 2 anyday Y.I.S Leeview
  20. When the NHS had wooden walking sticks these were made of sweet chestnut in one piece crutches were made from ash Y.I.S Leeview
  21. This dog of yours that represented Scotland would that be Fallon? What was her recall like? Or should I say capture Along with Jim Bell in that picture of the field trials there is also Blinddate on here and Kevin Walker working Cleo Y.I.S Leeview IVE A PICTURE OF THE INITIAL TRIO OF FINALISTS, JIM BELL WITH PADDY,STEVE BARTONS ALSATION X(think it was called Rooney)& KEVIN WALKER WITH HIS BITCH CLEO FM RUFUS THE RED. PUT IT UP WHEN I FIND IT. I THINK THE BEST FORMAT WAS 1 CHAMPION FM EACH UK AREA. WHEN IT TURNED TO 3 FOR EACH TEAM IT WENT A BIT AWRY. I agree 1 from each area wou
  22. Doesn't really make that much difference in my opinion as long as you leave them to dry out slowly.........the old adage is........if you see a good stick.........cut it. Yes in an ideal world its better when the sap is down as they don't take so long to season. the old adage is "if you see a good stick......cut it before someone else does" Y.I.S Leeview
  23. Thank you Optimus for the reply Y.I.S Leeview
