At last some sensable replies put forward Mythical ss being used to sell pups but mb was doing just the same with the Laguna name IMHO As for these over size whippets they are a very modern part of the whippet my dad showed a Baydale Cinnamon bred dog back in the early 70's stood 213/4" and looked massive alongside other whippets in the ring, Ch Akeferry Jimmy was 22" and was regularly knocked for being over size because back in those days all whippets were to breed standards so where oh where have the 23",24",even 25" whippets come from? Y.I.S Leeview Your dad showed a "Baydale" if

There used to be a well known scroat in York,he was a traveller but the travellers shunned him he was always surrounded by young lads backing him up Tommy Swales might be worth finding out if he's still about Y.I.S Leeview

thats the very trouble, there are far too many people with little or no knoledge of dogs\breeding that are trying to imitate M/B's breeding plan with little thought for the conciquences for the breed or the stock they are churning out selling the pups on the mythicle name "SOOTY SAM" recently ive seen inbred SS lines (NOT DIRECTLY FROM M/B ) of 23,24,even 25" at the shoulder, surely if a dog of that size is needed then a whippet/grey cross would be more suitable rather than breeding excessivly large whippets. MB bought gorwyne glissando in when she was about 3 years old, a lad i knew owned her from a pup she was a great working bitch, after a marraiege problem she was rehomed then MB bought her in. at the end of the day the bloke has done well out of whippets, some people love them some hate them but you cant knock the man he made sooty sam a name used all aroun the world and could of sold ice to eskimos? Cant dispute much of what your stating and a salesman par excellance Y.I.S Leeview

your wrong - talking whippets not greyhounds and if it was still legal and his dogs are KC and under the stick plus he is a a running member he can run Why is oohmydog wrong? whippets ran under NCC rules as did saluki's and deerhounds obviously against their own breed. Are his dogs KC registered? Only on TWA none of his breeding have a registration number or acknowledged as being bred or owned by mb If as you say his dogs were "under the stick" he could run as a nomination without being a running member Y.I.S Leeview

I think mate if you read it there are very very few if ANY negative commets from ANYONE who has had a dof off him and worked it. If the guy is a puppy farming liar who never works his dogs, breeds without thought and is just in it for cash - then where are all the shit dogs that have come out of his kennels. Everyone who has one rates it highly and everyone who goes on and on and on and on about the man - has never worked on of his dogs. Funny that I've yet to meet someone who can say - i had a pup from him, worked hard at it, did the right thing - and it was shit. Have you got cocker

you have your own opinion, thats fair enough. But I've stated the obvious. Its like me going to buy a Labrador from a pet home, and then training it to work with the gun. Yes, it'll work to a certain extent with the right training and entering, but would it be as good or better than one that is bred for work?? The answer to that is NO! Same goes with terriers, I wouldnt buy a border from show stock, and expect it to be a top class digging dog would I. Point proven. With all due respect onthebeam mb is using the word working whippet NOT actually working them so how will they be better tha

Mmmm anyone with any understanding now these Champion pigeons must have done something to merit the title Champion surely? Clonmel next month 64 dog puppy Derby and 64 bitch puppy Oaks now how many different sires will there be covering those 128 puppies? Bexhill Eoin had 45 pups qualify last year out of the 128 Bexhill Eoin, his sire and his grandsire all won the Derby so to me that says winners/workers produce winners Irish Lady and Lucky were greyhoundxsaluki As for the horses they use a stallion to suit, no good putting a 11/4mile mare to a 6furlong or vice versa is it? Y.I.S Lee

OK pb I hear what your saying about the "Kings clothes" now look through the lurcher and terrier topics and how often is the phrase "worker to worker the only/right way to go" mb breeds whippets FACT he sells them as working whippets yet HIS dogs that he breeds from are not worked. Y.I.S Leeview

Your ss bred bitch I see your delighted with her and used your mates show bred dog as stud if I'm reading your posts right? How do you rate your bitch against this show bred stud? Workwise Y.I.S Leeview They both work well using there noses well, both will face cover, both retrieve, both ferret and both have very good stamina and yes I can see where your attempting to go with this. As you will see I started my post with saying there are plenty of other lines that will work admirably (and there are some that wont) I also suspect that as with most dogs the owner/trainer has a lot to do w

Ferreting the rabbits are very reluctant to run,a lot of hole hopping and when you do get them they're lightweight not scrawny but usually a lot more weight on them at this time of year Y.I.S Leeview

Theres plenty on here said they would nt go back to mb for another if you reread this topic, OK so I'll ask you what made you decide to get a pup from mb? Your mate had one and you thought it OK, contacted mb and ordered one, Did you ask to see the parents working? Are there many whippets/lurcher breeders on the Rock? to compare with whats available? Working Whippets is simply a gimmick mb coined previously they were just called whippes and did what whippets had been doing for many decades Y.I.S Leeview Here we go again, why are you askin a question ive already given the answer too r
