  1. Couple of pics of bantams I hatched under a broody. 3 out of 11 eggs. I know breeds they are, ( i think) mot sure on sex though. 6 weeks old
  2. Found this on computer, only half decent photo
  3. I was stupid enough to get talking to the breeder about his lurchers and forgot to see the terrier. I have seen pictures of beddyXspringers which are similar, but I think she's lakey type, bloke kept lakeyXborders too. Is a first cross to. Like a big hairy springer, but hard when she fights with the jrt. Lifts young rabbits in long grass and retrieves live. Easy to train but if she don't think there's anything to hunt she just walks to heel. Great retreiver. Wouldn't keep one again though. PatXcocker seems interesting, but there is just better dogs than this type for working. But I wou
  4. My springerXterrier will get her first season ferreting this year, had a go at the end of last. She will b 4 soon, and has only just settled enough to work ferrets, was always far to excitable. Marks a treat and smart enough to pick holes they will bolt from.

    andy murray

Think it will be a federer murray final. Don't know the outcome, murray certainly has the ability to win, but federer going to try and beat sampras record, won't want to mess that up 2 years in a row.
  6. Big chunk of bread flake can be a good job at times. especially of there's ducks nearby and people feeding them.
  7. Nice dog, good smart dog will catch well and learn enough to catch into it's twilight years. To much speed and no brains a possible recipe for disaster?
  8. I don't work gundogs myself, though I do have a terrier X springer that i plan on getting used to the gun this summer. I also help out at a clay shoot and wouldb't recommend taking any dog close to one, let alone one not used to shot. i don't know much about driven shooting either but I would assume that the guns are spaced out a bit. At a clay shoot you have 5 guns ( dtl) and for each line upto 30 shots fired ( 50 for a 25 bird line) in very quick time. Don't know if thats comparable to a driven shoot or not. If you have 2 or 3 lines running then that is a lot of shots fired quickly, s
  9. That has given me the biggest laugh in ages, got tears in my eyes. sure it wasn't so funny for you though.
  10. We had a couple of days of storms last week. Biggest I seen for a while and carried on for ages over two days. Been scorchingly hot all this week though. Do like a good storm. Wifes collie doesn't though, caught her trying to open the back door and sneak into the kitchen.

    FOXES

Don't know if this theory holds any water but, could any of it be down to human selective breeding early on. When wolves started to come round the fire and showed certain qualities etc that the ones that gaurded livestock were bred on. Thus enhancing this trait over time. Don't know enough about early dogs, or early livestock to know if I'm talking rubbsh though.
  12. Have read to use lard on animal skins after salt, but don't know what it is like. Never tried it. Used salt and then wrapped skin round dummy. Still using it now couple years on. As long as it doesn't get wet then it's no trouble.

    FOXES

Did the male coyote get killed when the new pack of wolves took over the territory? The old pack just used to drive them away, but he tried to push his luck with the new boys, and paid the price. Good program, if it was the same one! Sounds like it, if I remember correct there was an extremely bolshy alpha bitch in that pack too, male too. Then the sister to the alpha bitch took over, unless that was a different film. Definately remeber seeing the wolf hammer the coyote though.

Must be same one I saw, You posted as I was writing. Similar food sources on territory will cause competiton for all who use that resource.

Seen documentaries with wolves killing coyotes ( i think), competition for food and territory maybe has larger and smaller predators at odds. Look at the big cats, cheetahs pushed off kills by bigger animals etc So maybe it's just in the genes from wolf days. Though I am likely talking rubbish.

    joke

Bloke has the frontroom to himself for first time in ages, wife out shopping, son upstairs watching tv. Just starting to doze off and the wee boy comes down stairs, " dad" he says "whats love juice" Oh christ thinks the father, what do I say. Well son he says, your 10 now I suppose its time you learnt a few things. So he gives him a talk about when he meets a girl he likes, how things will move on from kissing. To a bit of feeling a fondling and eventually some up skirt stroking. Now when your young lady is ready to go a bit further you'll know because of her love juice. "gee da
