Will take some in next few days. Nothing ripe on it yet. Lot of hazel nuts around too.
-
Was actually nice to see them in the garden. Not 10ft from littluns swing for ages before we noticed them. Not a sign of them this year.
-
Aye, harvestman. Haven't seen one in ages. Always seem to like brick walls.

Thanks, didn't want to end up poisoning myself. The other tree I said about looks like a very big sloe, but has a plummy taste to them, not sure if the would be plums or damsons. Had a plum tree yesrs ago and these are smaller, but it's a wild tree. Waiting for it to ripen either way, make mre vodka up with it.
-
Stupid question, the branches of your picture seem smooth, the bushes I have sloes on are covered in big spikes, that bloody hurt when they jab you. Are they the same fruit?
-
The fruit in the picture is sloes? or the tree I said about is sloes?

Hen is a great layer, great broody bird and great rearing bird. She just keeps attacking the rest of the flock, so I wanted to see if it is anygood to anyone else. I can't seperate her off and thought someone with a bit more experience could use her. She is in good condition etc and only down to her ways with other birds that it's no use to me. Maybe she would be better under a cockbird but I can't keep them either. Would rather rehome her if I can.

I have a oeg bantam hen that needs to go, she is a great layer, great broody and great rearing bird. She just keeps attacking the rest of the flock. I can't seperate so want to see if a good home is available to someone who can accomodate her. Starting to sit again at the moment. I am in maghera Northen Ireland.

The top left picture is that plums or damsons? I have a tree near me called a plum tree by the locals, but the fruit is only the size of a very large grape. So not quite sure. Not ripe yet either. Plenty of Hazelnuts here too, blackberries ripening in patches. Got yourself a good harvest there though.

well it measn that my kids cannot play in the back year on they toys and my puppy cannot go for a wee coz they will get stung I had one last year and it was no trouble, not be long now until the hive dies down. Once the hive dies off for summer all the queens bugger off and start new ones elsewhere. Had no trouble at all with my daughter playing out in garden. They even tolerated me poking about with a stick and camera for pictures and they didn't even react.

I'd say he has picked himself a good dog, don't forget that he will be doing a bit of ferreting so the collie in the mix should give him a good advantage over a straight springer, even if it's just an extra bit of speed. Hope it all goes well for you.
-
Sounds like a good choice, glad you got one sorted and it should do you very well. Put the photos up when you get him.
-
I'd guess there is deerhound in there somewhere. Nice dog to, I like that look of a lurcher.
-
I would go for the springer, if you do more shooting than ferreting. You will always get better results if you have the dog your heart lies with rather than one your not 100% into. Springers not impossible to work with ferrets just a little excitable. Just be patient and it will do well and be with you for years. Even an old dog can ferret well, maybe even better as of experience. The only thing with terriers is down to what you have on the land. They aren't hard to train. You have a friend with a lurcher so you can always pair up. And if you make your kennel run big enough you will

works well on paper, and I am sure people use them on here. For bushing etc should be good and have a better pace than a springer. Only thing again is for ferreting the springer in the mix can take a time to settle, unless you have a lot of rabbits and it pics it up well. Have seen some nice terrier collies too, again think something written about them recently. What dog is it you have your head set on? Pick what you like and you can work out any niggles as you go. If its springers be patient and if its terriers be aware of them entering out of sight. All part of keeping dogs. They dri

do a search on colie whippets, or beddy whippets. A thread in the lurchers at the minute too.
-
I agree, you have stuff there that could cause you grief. Have heard the vislas are great dogs, ferreting should be within their grasp, but and this is a guess as I have no clue, they may be to active and impatient for ferreting. Very annoying when you dog buggers off with a ferret to ground. A small lurcher beddy or collie would suit, something with a coat to please your mum. Though if it's a terrier you are set on a plummer would be a good enough choice. Once you get the pup, whatever it is it will win her over by being a puppy. Unless it chews the washing Another possibility, look a

Think the problem may have been th eheat, ditch has a very thick coat and weather has been warm. She was clipped weeks ago and now the weather is getting colder and windier she has woken up. On her own now scenting, flushing and hunting brilliantly. Almost a different dog, and flushed her first fox couple of weeks back. Very pleased with change in her and will remember to take the weather into consideration, was just to warm even at the very end of the daylight.

Collies are definately worth using, will be trainable for anything you want. Look into articles etc in magazines and you will come across stories of collies on the beating line. Pluto retrieves dummies back to hand no trouble and she has a good nose for finding game. Lacks a gear or maybe two to run down open ground bunnies. Look about and it shouldn't be hard to get a good working collie, or even a first cross collie whippet? Give you the option to lamp too and still be versatile for everything else. A good collie, racy type will easy be good for catching the odd bolters too. Don't

Be careful with small terrier types for ferreting as they can take to going in after the rabbits, have a 10"jrt that has been taken off ferreting until I know if she will work other stuff. Spaniel types have a good nose and can be good dogs, but they are mad, my current ferreting partner is 1st cross terrier spaniel and is 4 now, only now has she calmed down enough to work with the ferrets. Always in the past far to excitable around nets and buries. For flushing though both types are ideal, as long as you are careful with terriers entering holes. For a ferreting partner a small lurcher or

Didn't think it would be much good. Have a dog that will lift just about anything I throw for her, including a rabbit fur dummy. Trails and flushes rabbits and woodcock regular and will lift live rabbits from cover. Won't lift warm or cold fresh shot rabbits though, thought more scent on the dummy could help? Dog is a terrierXspaniel used for bushing and ferreting.
-
Does anyone use these? Saw some in the local gunshop, rabbit, duck and pheasant. Add to the dummy then use as normal. Are they any good or just a gimmick?
-
Saw some bottles in the gun shop, america stuff. Rabbit, pheasant and duck. Add a bit to the dummy and use as normal. To help locating and following a scent trail. Maybe more of a gundog question. Just thought I'd ask and see peoples views. Especially the rabbit for bringing on bushing dogs.

Agree totally. Perfect time for the two ferreters to ring the police, they are within the law and may as well make use of the old bill to protect their rights. They should have kept a log of the number plates too if possible. Don't know the age of them but if they under 18 could there have been anything about making images of minors? Couldn't take pictures of my daughter in a ball park on her 1st birthday with no other kids about. Petty I know. These idiots with the camera should be visited by the authorities and this video used as evidence. I couldn't make out the comment at the end a
