  1. It looks the part mate, hope it does all you want it too.Bill
  2. My young un carries them around the middle of the back, but if they struggle she will stop and pin them down between her legs and get a better grip.Maybe its her age,or maybe because she's a small dog.
  3. Two of the top coursing dogs in the 's were Laguna Leader, and Laguna Larkin. These dogs were used to sire many litters of show and coursing dogs.Laguna Leader belonged to Mrs Mckay, but Laguna Larkin belonged to a Dr Adams. I'm sure that most litters from coursing lines would have either Laguna,Nimrodel,Maximillian Or shalfleet somewhere in there pedigree.
  4. Make sure the dog can see out of the car window.
  5. The old saying of " hunt when theres an R in the month" is obsolete now the climate has warmed. When i was a kid the frosts started mid september, and getting a late frost in mid may was fairly normal. Now i have citrus trees and olives trees in my garden, and they grow perfectly well unprotected.I have seen half grown rabbits in december, and i was told by a mate that he found young in a rabbit he shot last week. I personally think there maybe parts of the south west where rabbits breed all year, anyone from that way care to comment ?
  6. What like this Rolfe Must be the Beddy in them.
  7. I would only use .177 at 12ftlb a .22 is as pointed out like throwing a mortar. At 12ftlbs its all about shot placement, and .177 certainly makes it much easier,as for stopping power i can take out rabbits at 30-35 yards no probs. Not quite on a par with some of the crackshots on here, who can shoot a crows eyeball out at 60+ yds with .22 springer ,but i shoot my fair share.
  8. My sentiments entirely Baldie Sorry to here your story Kay,seems you did your best, but sometimes it isn't good enough.

    Well i never

Happy birthday mate. 17 already don't time fly.
  10. Proper poetry, none of that shakespeare rubbish.
  11. Absolutely spot on.Too many newbies in this game now, only looking to see the dog mixing it.Most of them wouldn't know a good dog,if it bit them on the arse.JMO
  12. Im going to try and knock something similar up on power point, then show my lad.Its absolutely spot on.
  13. Do some research, and you'll see what a f*****g waste of time the jill jab is.Numerous stories of jabbed jills getting pregnant,or even worse. I use a vasectomised hob, never had any problems.IF you never plan to breed, then get her nuetered,if your not sure, then put her to a vasectomised hob.
  14. A mate of mine has been a couple of times, and reckons its the business. He was out there hunting with golden eagles, and has already made arrangements to go again later this year.
  15. Good thread minion.Never hear many negative comments about Mikes dogs, but then again theres an awfull lot of folk with Hancocks dogs, that are more than happy with what they bought. My oppinion is,if you are breeding purely for profit, whilst knowing what you breed wont make the grade, then thats a peddler, and as we know there are lots about.
  16. Should have had them off a lot earlier matie, if the dog is now 6 months, I wouldnt bother..Ive coursed with whippets and small lurcher crosses, and even pure deerhounds with dew claws on, no problems..but given the choice, take them off when their in the nest... Spot on
  17. If you have "real player" you can download youtube with that.
  18. Bet that wasn't the dogs first slip that day,it looks f****d from the very beginning.

  20. Molly i'm no expert, but i think two small meals is better than one large one.Maybe an idea to do some research (google) on whether it effects pups,i'm pretty sure it can.I think the critical thing is,time between feeding and exercise or between exercise and feeding. For me its always 5 hours, mainly because thats what my old man did,and he never had any probs with his dogs. Some people say the dog only needs to rest for an hour or two, before feeding. That may well be the case, but i'm not prepared to take the chance with any of mine.Better safe than sorry i say.Bill
  21. A good balanced diet Too many vitamins are just as bad as too few.
  22. I feel for you mate What dirty lowlife b*****ds. If it was me,i would hunt the b*****ds down, and wouldn't sleep till me and my brothers caught up with them. All the best wahtever the outcome,Bill
  23. Another gimmick, save your money and buy another tin of pellets.
  24. Fingers crossed,i've never had any problems with Bloat (gastric torsion) but i know people who have lost dogs to it.Feeding a dog just before or just after its been grafting,is asking for trouble.
