I have seen the world from both ends matey, in the recession of the early 90s I was hod carrying for 3 brick layers for £15 a day.....that gave my old mum some house keeping and gave me a couple of quid for myself.
Loads of lads said I was mental to work for that doing that type of work but I was happy to have it.......the lads that said they wouldn't work for that, guess what they did? They stayed home and stayed skint!
