  1. If she runs in, stop her and fetch the bird yourself. If she does it again bollock her and again fetch it yourself, she will soon learn if she isn't sent she doesn't get the retrieve.
  2. Moving to stone you must be desperate lol
  3. As long as they are kept clean and feed a good diet then you will be fine. I leave mine and there fine.
  4. Any time, the was three of us taking it in turns.
  5. One of the hardest things is stopping a dog being hard mouthed, good luck.
  6. Well the lad is coming along nicely now. Tried him to ground about a week ago in quiet a big place took him a while to pin it down, he was a 3.2 but we had to dig seeing as it was the dogs first time face to face. The ground was solid clay and the going was hard but just after an hour we only had 0.5 to go and charlie bolted out of a small hole we hadn't spotted, dog came out checked him over plenty of praise for the lad. Didn't get any pics but here's some when he was a pup and one from the other day.
  7. Didn't realise that (pre ban) meant yesterday, proof read what you type before putting anything up you pratt.
  8. Why not just use a cocker? why cross it.
  9. Sounds like there scent marking, are they dogs or bitches? When they piss on the floor rub there nose in it and hole it there, and then chuck um out or in a cage.
  10. that won't work becuase I reckon if they started linking medical records to the police people who have guns will be less inclined to recieve help for depression if they have guns for fear of them being taken away. Leaving a lot of people with depression with out they help they need and a cabinet full of guns.
  11. Can you not use your imagination,ya knob. They are dogs, not children! Thats a rather odd response to call him a knob he was only asking a question. Just another spin on this thread cause there has been a lot of talk of dogs being more agressive etc I find dogs on chains more excitable always moving around and being generally hyper. Where as when my dogs are in there kennels they are there to rest and relax until there needed back out again.
  12. Does it matter if dogs are on chains or in kennels as long as there well excercised, and got some where clean, warm and dry to sleep in theres no harm.
  13. What ever takes your fancy
  14. The best thing to feed is the puppy food that the breeder has been feeding save changing and upsetting there stomaches. Then when 6 months on to adult food.
  15. We have had common ringneck this year and they fly fantastic but they tended to stray a bit. If its your first year try black necks for the first year there a bit of a pain to get flying well but they hold brilliantly hardly any doggin in. Then you can find were any possible leaks from the estate are with out to many birds straying making it easier for you when you change breed. Just a thought for you.
  16. Never fed turkey pellets but I should imagine they will eat them but I cant see them being as benificial as pheasant grower.
  17. It doesn't matter if its a terrier, lurcher, retreiver etc with out our dogs there is little we could achieve. How do you put a price on them, people on here try to make out there just tools not worth £500 for a dog. But what about when your in the pub recounting tales of a epic dig that took hours to find the dog nose to nose doing you proud, or a difficult runner that retrieved text book infront of a line of guns, the lurcher that fills pot day or night. When you can spends hours telling stories of past and present dogs for hours there are priceless in my opinion.
  18. We have two drives of miscanthus which require noise to firstly get the birds moving foward and also so the beaters can use the sound to stay in line. Generally the other drives a pretty quiet with some tapping and the odd hi-hi-hi. One problem I have is sometimes a syndicate member will beat if he has two guests shooting for the day and no matter hat I say about noise or loosing an unruly dog near the end of a drive they do regardless but I suppose they are the boss.
  19. Its good to see you working together and both enjoying it. Only thing I would say is remove the collar when working the dog you don't want it hanging itself.
  20. To be honest I couldn't tell you why, I was just always told that wheat straw is better to use than barley.
  21. Use good quality clean wheat straw and you'll be fine. Don't use barley straw.
  22. Had this sent to me via e-mail the bloke has got it spot on, wish the goverment would listen to him. http://dotsub.com/view/6474921d-8943-443b-9128-de62aa3b3e54
