It wasn't so romantic to some. Having to rely solely on your trained dog (if you had one) and using your skills to feed the family wasn't always fun, espeacially if the takings were minimal. , but most got through in the end. Now, I don't think that it's needed as it was back then, times have changed dramastically and are continuing to do so Today for some it's a living , and for the true lurcherman a way of life, a hobby in which I'm sure is taken seriously.

Just looked in the local paper. There are 8 adverts, permanent positions in factories, ranging from forklift drives to pickers and packers. £7ph rotating 10hr shifts. Work is still out there, yes maybe not everyones taste having to work in a factory, but it's work and a wage.

The key here is for everyone to be confident and have faith. Many many people are claiming some sort of benifit. Some have genuine reasons, and many others don't. I have a friend, who was made redundant after 19yrs, he claimed job seekers allowance, he had to, there was a VERY big risk of losing his home, family and not to mention his pride. The dole center put him on a course (back to work project), well within 16 months he completed the course, and within 8 set up his own business repairing/restoring old clocks. His business is thriving, and now has more comforts than he ever had!
