  1. I checked your profile to make sure my facts were correct........... And they were. At the end of the day you are an argumentive gob shite who has very little intelligent input.
  2. Nice picks there mate I gutted 23 yesterday and didnt find one in kit but i know it is only a matter of time now
  3. looks like it could turn out to be a handy dog, i have a dog called ollie and is quite similar to yours atb jackk He is quite a character, he really needs a firm hand or he just takes the piss! Very different from bringing on the lurchers! Lovely looking dogs there Tyla. How is he with the ferrets?
  4. I'd love to see the vet searching ferret ladyboys
  5. I had my neice phone me up today. She had a couple of hobs off me last year to keep as pets and her plan was that she would save up and have them castrated. She phoned her local vets and they quoted £35 each so she booked them in for last thursday. She had a phone call saying that the testes on both hobs had gone back inside their bodies and that the total bill had now changed to £311 because of the work involved. I told her not to pay it because they had quoted her but she had already paid it. The vet also said that hobs do not come into season....... I told her to get another vet. Has anyo
  6. great pics as usual Magwitch
  7. I find that my ferrets will appear at the entrances but if they dart back down then i know there is more in the warren. If on the other hand they come out and start messing about then i know that it's empty. As previously said it is all to do with experience the more you do it the more you will understand your ferrets.
  8. The question ive got to ask you is why do you not wait until the kits are born and have a couple off your mate? If you get a hob kit from another source you will have until it comes in to season next year to get it snipped. As Kay has said therre is a lot of resposibilties with kits and as you are a novice i would recommend against it.
  9. Maybe if you had looked into owning a a ferret before spouting off you would know that's crap. JILLS First year - during the first year of a jills life they do not go through many changes. Second year - the breeding season for jills is from March until August. They will come into season the year after they were born. The vulva enlarges and peaks at 30 days. The jill is in 'estrus'. Jills are 'induced ovulators' which means that if they are not mated she will remain in season. This can have serious even fatal consequences. She is liable to infection due to t
  10. Not so long ago you put up a post about poaching and not having any permission of your own, so I wouldn't expect you to understand but permission is hard to come by! Not only do I do the pest control on this land but I also run a small syndicate and part of the agreement was to control the vermin. Where these rabbits are a problem i am unable to shoot them because of houses and horses. As for paying for it I can assure you that no money changes hands for either the vermin control or the shooting rights for the syndicate. Finally as previously has been said, I am offering somebody a days ferret
  11. Good point there stealthy.... would people take more care if they had £50 of kit hanging around their ferrets neck?
  12. He hasn't asked for a risk assessment (yet) but at nearly 3000 acres I like to keep him happy.
  13. Why get a good worker vasectomised when having a non worker done would make more sense in allowing a good worker to pass on his genes?
  14. and you ask if a locator is needed would you write a terrier off, if it did'nt come out of a hole, or are they worth more of course not but like i said is there a way of getting them to come out? ie leaving some bait in a cage. i mean how did people get them back before locators were invented? im pretty sure they wernt around a couple of hundred years ago. anyway never mind, its hard to get a straight answer off some people. To be honest mate you are being pretty obscure i your question and answers. Personally I would never leave home without a locator. As previously said, i
  15. That is so the ferrets don't get lost. I will have partridge and pheasant poults in pens around the land later on in the year and don't want some feral ferret eating them.
  16. No but you might Its what the land owner specified to me when I got his permission to control vermin on his land.
  17. I use an old posties bag for my nets and I just leg the rabbits and hang them. I have found game bags can make the rabbit meat sweat a bit.
  18. Does anyone fancy a day out ferreting on my permission? There are a few rules though 1. Must have insurance 2 Must have collars and locator. 3 No dogs (i'm sorry but i cant vouch for other peoples dogs even if you say they are fine) 4 No guns (ferrets only) The location is bedfordshire. if anyone is interested drop me a message.
  19. You really are a fecking idiot aren't you!!! Your the type of person who opens gob first and engages brain last. Mooster, its sad to here of your loss but your words did her justice I hope the new team turns out as many happy memories.
  20. The floor is concrete but it is covered in wood bark in the picture. I have now changed the floor to straw because they love burrowing and generally frollicking about. Do you not have any problems with ticks and fleas ? or as some people have said ferrets getting hard bits inbedded in ermm soft spots ? I've always been told straw isn't the right stuff to use but im finding less and less reasons why lol also what about when it rains does it get manky ? I only use straw in the outside and ive had no problems with ticks or fleas although if you get gerren hay they can be
