  1. It will do no harm at all...... just waste the batteries.
  2. Corvids are one of the worst things you can give to ferrets because they are more often than not covered in mites.
  3. Firstly have you taken him out on his own since he went weird to see how he behaves? Something may have spooked him when he was in the bushes or he had a bad experience with the gun on that day. Not all dogs will pick woodcock i would try him on feather dummies again to see how he reacts to them. If he has gone gun shy, i personally would take him back to basics and take him near to a clay shoot and as his confidence grows, move him closer until he has no fear of the noise of the gun.It will take a bit longer than it would if he was a pup but it can be sorted.
  4. Hi Paul....... Have you no mates to look after her??....... How long would your house take to do?
  5. It is nice to see an experienced hand giving the younger generation their time and expertise. I have a 19 year old son and would love him to come out with me but he is too busy sitting in front of his X box. I personally believe that if more of the younger generation were shown how to shoot and the resposibilities that handling a firearms entails, that there would be less petty crime around. I can see by the look on your face that you enjoyed it ..... As happy as a pig in shit..... Also hats of to Derboy for taking you.
  6. And they have the antis knocking them as well......... thats a big cat though.
  7. So was the horse and cart until the car came along. A liner (usually a hob) is a ferret that lived alone from all the rest. When out ferreting, if you got a lay up you would get your liner hob out and attach a ball of string to its collar or harness and enter him into the warren. When the string stopped moving you would dig along until you found the dead rabbit. It was kept alone because it would push the jill off the kill. I assume you only have the one ferret though.... I personally would wait until next season and save your money up to get a locator mk1 or mk3 would suffi
  8. yeah its all changed over here it used to take ages to get anything done but im happy with that now taught i was going to have to wait a good while. ill collect in a week or two,, the longest i had to wait so far is about 3 weeks for a .17hmr but ill be happy with a .223 I got my variation in about 30mins, just made an appointment to see my FEO and it was done while i waited I bet that will change now they are merging with Herts.
  9. Try again tomorrow..... Ask to speak to an FEO and ask. Failing that write the letter and send it. In the mean time do you have any mates with an open ticket?
  10. Might have caught her at the wrong time of the month..... Seriously though. I was under the impression (and I might be wrong) that information like that would be covered by data protection act.
  11. She looks a cracker but dont be too eager to progress her training. Time spent on the basics now will save you frustration and headaches later.
  12. It helps to stop the dog from damaging its tail when working.
  13. I assume you know the following. This has been taken from the animal welfare act. All UK legislation has now been passed and enacted as follows; The docking of dogs' tails was banned in England from 6 April 2007 and in Wales from 28 March 2007 but with exemptions from the ban for certain working dogs, and for medical treatment. A total ban in Scotland took effect 30 April 2007 There is also a ban on the showing of docked dogs (all dogs docked after the commencement date of 6 April/28 March) at events to which members of the public are admitted on payment of a fee. However, thi
  14. My advice would be wait until you have left school before you entertain getting a dog
  15. Use the search facility fella. There are loads of examples on there.
  16. And id rather see a fox dug to with a terrier than run with a dog or shot but we dont all get what we want. I think the bottom line is some forms of control are legal and others are not. Pre ban I loved watching a dog course a hare but now the only way i can watch it is on TV or the internet. To shoot that many hares in a day makes me think that the ground must have been teeming with them. Do you think they shot all the hares off the ground? Over the last few years the land that i shoot has become more and more heavily populated with hares and we have now got to the stage where you
  17. All though you should be training him in a fashion at this age you should be making it fun. What you should not be doing is expecting too much from the pup. Yes get him sitting and staying and coming back to the whistle but you shouldn't be expecting him to hunt at the moment because as he gets older you may find it very difficult to control him because his prey drive will overtake his willingness to listen to you. The trouble with training a pup is that people expect to move on to more exciting parts of the training before the basics are instilled in the dog. This means that although the dog
  18. She needs more calcium in her food to generate the milk for the puppies.
  19. No i just believe I got it wrong ...... I honestly thought the 222 was the smallest round for deer.... What are the bullet costs for the .220 Swift against a .222
  20. Does that mean then that you cannot take your dog for a walk on council owned land?????....... Wasnt that all you were doing?
  21. When my bitch was in pup I fed her chudleys puppy food with a drink of lactol. It suited her and she had 9 very healthy pups.
  22. Sorry doddsy the 220 swift generates more energy than the 222 or 223 so is perfectly legal and very effective on small deer Geordie Cheers Geordie........ You learn something new everyday....I stand corrected.
