  3. is it a good read and if so will you ship to either Canada or the States? I enjoyed it, nice to see one written this century! Great pics also. J Darcy, always liked the look of the white dog 'Bear'. Is he yours? Good worker? Yes mate, that Bear was a strong lump of a dog, but unfortunately he never made the standard as a worker. .....
  4. Just found a few copies in my loft that i am boarding out at the mo. So they will be available to buy online until they are all gone. Link on frotn of site.Thought i would put this up in case anyone wants it as i think its pretty much sold out most places. ...good hunting....JD
  5. You sure they arent rats Moll...?...could it be voles....
  6. I have lived in a built up area all of my life. Of course, i love the countryside, but if your mind is the right way you will see wildlife where you live no matter how built up it may be. From time to time i see a Lesser spotted woodpecker edging its way up a neighbouring tree. Long tailed tits come floating past from time to time. Sparrowhawks, squirrels, chaffinches and even the odd group of jays fly over. Living in the city has never bothered me and i think i appreciate the countryside so much more because of it. I never take my time out in the fields for granted. Its not where you live tha
  7. The reciever looks very much like the "MK2" ones. I have had a go with them and i just do not like them, and i especially dont like the awful whine they make. It remains to be seen how good they are, but i wouldnt like to think i was testing it out.....personally i think Deben products are poorly made. JMHO....
  8. It was the only book i ever had as a kid that had a good section on lurchers in it, hence, i loved it. Obviously, with age and maturity i can now see it wasnt quite as good as i had thought, but still, its well worth reading.

  11. done a call out this week and not only bolted cubs but also a dog fox. have also seen vixens laying in with cubs. not the norm i know. but it does happen. i put it down to some heavy rain. over the last few days they was shot by the landowner to protect his lambs an birds. Yes, of course unusual things do happen from time to time, but i was speaking generally. I have seen many unusual things happen when out with the terriers, but they cannot be seen as being the norm. Many years ago we were moving some cubs for a farmer and the vixern bolted with a cub in her mouth! I have had adu
  12. Incidentally, i would not have expected to see the vixen in with the cubs. She (and the dog fox) would be out mooching the countryside for food. From what little i have seen.

    bale of straw

Good post mate. My dogs sleep on blankets. straw gets everywhere and can harbour mites.
  14. Its madness. While two coppers were involved in that some poor old lady was probably getting broken into. Just what has the world come to. Fair enough if the ladies involved were criminals, but, even if they were on public land i am sure the police could have warned them sternly and sent them on their way. shame. make no wonder that we have no faith in the police forces. shame.
  15. juckler mate a greyhound taking 12 out of 12 hares, what time of year was this and are you stating it was on the same day. their will be 12lb hares about but most probably this time of year, they are more than likley to be between the 6 and 8lb when fit during the winter months. Thats just what i was thinking..... 12/12 hares, sounds like an old wifes tale to me. Unless they were in a foot of snow  and i would love to see the dog around that could pull a red stag single handed. A red stag wil run off with one lurcher let me tell you
  16. Juckler, would they be fast enough to come to terms with a fallow?. What size have they levelled out at. cheers

    white deer

Is there roe and muntjac in Clumber park? or is it mainly fallow? theres loads of fallow, red and roe in clumber park mate people tell me they have seen muntys but i personally aint you would think that if they are in there they should be all over the way they breed as it is perfect for them Yes, but those woods are huge arent they. It could take many years for the muntys to build up sufficient numbers to make themselves obvious. Saying that, you would think they would get knocked over on road....they have made it right up to the south side of the R Humber, so i guess on the map
