  1. Chinese are a totally seperate species, but these do occur in the wild in the uk. Muntjac are spreading and can be found in most of southern england and its only the larger watercourses and built up areas that are slowing them, but they always get through in the end. They are spreadin north and i know they are in doncaster area in growing numbers as well as further north. south of lincolnshire practically evert patch of quiet woodland will have them in before long, though i didnt see them in hampshire when i have been down there. JOEB, muntys will eat windfall, in fact, they will eat anything
  2. lol.. its worth selling your old boxes and getting a bellman and flint
  3. firtsly mate, i wouldnt take him out to "watch" another dog run. this serves no purpose at all. Does he yap in the daytime?. Does he yap during the run, or when the rabbit is next to cover?. personally i would just give him a couple of weeks off, maybe bolt a few with the ferret to see what he's like in the daytime. But, sometimes, they never stop. Unfortunately, its mostly down to the dog, and not you. Hope things come good.
  4. Well, last year i bought a number of top quality leather collars. My dogs get out a fair bit and are out in all weathers. Three of the four collars on my dogs are now in need of repair. The stitching has come out. Now, im a bit paranoid, but imagine if a dog was to ground and the others were coupled up, imagine if the stitching gave way as the dogs were pulling and more than one ended up in a big earth. no collar. it wouldnt be nice. So, this seaason i will be trying the strongstuff collars out. They are certainly tough. I also hope that strongstuff will be able to make leads too as i will b
  5. dogs look in good nick JOEB.... good luck with the pup.....
  6. i have just changed computers , my home computer having no hunting pictures on it so i need to be able to transfer the pics from my digicamera to another computer. the trouble is i have lost my disc and it wont do it. so at the mo, i have a camera with pics on and no pc to put them on. the computer says that i do not have software required. i have asked it to search the web for relevent software but this has turned up blank. the camera is a canon 300D, does anyone know where i can get the software from to enable my pics to be downloaded onto pc. cheers, by the way, please use uncomplicated
  7. i just thought that was his aftershave!!! :11: :11:
  8. yes isnt it funny, that the introduced murderer, the mink, is protected from hound packs....and yet you can trap it and shoot it..lol....obviously this is not about animal welfare, but another less quarry on the "banned" list for dogs to stop hounds hunting. Of course, i feel our opponents underestimated peoples love of their sport. Tally-Ho!! JD
  9. i think you will find that there still is very few white stuff in the N East matey, thats why they practically died out(no outcrosses). ;) but would you say that good digging white dogs are easy to come by...
  10. :11: sticks and stones......i stick by what i said....in england (not ireland)i have seen a few white dogs and most have been sub standard. Not saying there are none, but they are not common. perhaps it depends on what the owner classes as a good digging dog. dogs capable of being dug to 2,3,4 times a day...not in puppy places either. one hole. on the money. working 50,60,70 a season. thats what i call a good one...just MHO....so tell me....are there loads of these about........ if so, let me know, please. regards, JD
  11. A truely good dog will work when a little sore. Lets be honest, many dogs are keen and "up for it" when first brought out and run on the first critter of the night. BUT the big question is will they be just as keen on the second......the third.......or the fourth? We talk about the bull being tested, but then we put it to an untested ex track greyhound, immediately diluting the bull 50% with the greyhound....perhaps the greyhhound side (usually the bitch) should be the one under the spotlight more?..... I personally think that the true game bull/greyhound is an endangered species. puppy pedd

  13. To be honest DS i would put that trap away until march time. We used to use one many years ago in the garden. I was pretty keen on the maggies with my old airgun and i thought i had most of them wiped up. WRONG! put the larson down and within half an hour there was a pair of pied pirates sat on top of it. I think we averages 15-20 per spring from our back garden. they are so effective when used right, but i have never, ever caught anything in one that didnt house a call bird. good luck mate.

  16. loads of english are over there at the moment buying land. my mate has just come back. The plane was also full of indians buying land.
  17. There are very few white dogs that could be classed as good digging dogs in this country, i havent seen many. Most of the russels now have too much show influence and they think they got a worker if they bolt a fox from a drain.lol
