  1. The woods are turning like there's no tomorrow. Everywhere rich colours please the eye. Reds, yellows, russets and golds. It's raining and i've got lots to do, but I did fancy a walk out in the woods. First shot was a magpie that was sat right above my head in an ancient elm. Came down still kicking to be brought back to hand . Then the phone rang. It was my mate Jay, and typically as soon as i started chatting squirrels seemed to be everywhere. A very quick end ot the call later and a silver critter recieved some attention from a Bisley LRG. Then not much else, so i retraced my steps, getti
  2. Sorry for the belated reply, i have never eaten squirrel, but the ferrets get them. I also leave a couple for the local foxes every time i go out, which they put to good use!
  3. Like with many things in life, those that don't go out and do anything are the loudest when it comes to crabbing other peoples dogs. There's always some angle... "oh they're only rabbits" "Shit hares at this time of year" " our games harder to catch than your game"... the list is endless. If your getting out plenty then you appreciate another mans dogs for what they are... just genuine workers. Myself, i do like to see a nice retrieve, Robert michum, that's a great pic of the hare being retrieved live to hand. Top class! And IMO much much harder to get a dog doing that than many wi
  4. Me Like! I've bred a few of these in me time.......very nice mohican.
  5. send me a pm mate and i will sort it. cheers
  6. You keep on keeping on Logun..... I, for one, wish i had the talent you have.....
  7. dont want to be a kill joy but its menal when talking about fallow not melenistic... I don't want to be a killjoy either, but i think you've got confused ...Menil is the 'typical' colour of fallow, with a chestnut pelage and white spots. Melanistic is totally different thing, melanistic is a dark pigmentation as can happen in many animalsbirds, etc, most commonly the pheasant.
  8. Sika and Fallow can't interbreed.
  9. The S200 is one hell of a gun and, i think, very over-looked. Accurate, silent and a joy to shoot!! I love mine to bits.....
  10. Out for two hours this afternoon, the wind was a bit too strong and the clouds were too heavy for my liking, but if we all waited for the correct weather we wouldn't do anything! Shot nine squirrels out of two woods, but saw alot more but theres still too many leaves for me and the bloody silver streaks outwitted me numerous times. Still, it was a good afternoon with the FN 12....JD
  11. Funny how sometimes Whin's posts are easily read and yet other times they need an enigma machine. Some people might think that there was two different people on the same log in...... I hope not....
  12. Sure is buddy! I personally liken crossbows to rifles, it's the true bows that are difficult to shoot. Bowhunting is a very difficult pursuit and one that can finely hone a hunters senses. At yards a rifle man takes the shot, at yards the bowhunter begins the stalk. To make things even harder, take away the sights and the wheels and release aids and you're left with a stick bow and only pure instinct to shoot with. Now THATS hard! I never could shoot instinctively as i have the wrong dominant eye for a right hander, Bowhunting is illegal in the UK due to the silly divis with crossbows sh
  13. Hi Pablo, it sounds like the piston head might be dodgy and letting small amounts of grease through. Maybe fit new head and start from scratch with the greaseing....hope this helps.
  14. Please keep us updated. Bloody love the old Eclipse and not seen one for a good while. I can remember when they and the Airsporter S were THE guns to have!! You rarely see them for sale either, so i guess they could be rare these days. personally i think they need to re-issue them as a limited edition, exact repeats......
  15. Why not look at a HW77. Guns don't come with much better pedigree than that. Get the venom kit in and you've got one heck of a tack driving, quiet-as-a-springer-will-go bit of kit.
  16. Eh? Don't you ever shoot up into trees? Are there no tree's in Norfolk? Seems to me only six months ago you were lecturing us all that the cheapo chinese guns were great and now, a few months later you're the guru on everything else. Mind you, some of your posts do brighten my day up...... p.s, winters here, can i borrow a .22 from your armory until springtime as i don't think i will bag much with the .177......
  17. Well, we each have our own opinions, but i disagree. Forget the BDC's and other fancy gimicks. Get out with the gun and start plinking as you walk. Get your eye used to distances and hold over and before long you won't even need to think. The gun should become an extension of your hand/eye and you won't spend all day worrying about which 5 yard aim-point to use, because most of the time, in true hunting situations, there won't be time. A jay alights on a branch for a split second, a squirrel hesitates at the base of a tree, a magpie lands at the top of a beech and gives you a fleeting oppor
  18. Hi, glad you have found the problem out. I would personally avoid the Hawke rubbish like the plague. I have simmons on all my rifles and i have had no trouble at all with them. To the best of my knowledge the 3-9WA Simmons Pro-hunter on the Falcon has never lost its aim in 11 years, so i think thats about as good as it gets. But then again, i can't remember the last time i adjusted the zoom, i use 4 power for everything. No point in having a nice gun and putting some chinese/tiawanese made cheap crap like Hawke on it IMO....
