Use her how you want its your dog if you are thinking about using her to ground try and keep her away from rabbits,nowt worse than digging down to a bunny,you dont sound to clued up about terrier work so try and get out with anyboby you know who works their terriers,if you dont no anyone and are still keen get yourself a locator.

Get it all the time,as im a scrapman,aproach a scrapman as by the time it gets to a scrapyard it will probs have been flattened makes it easier to transport.

DIGGING

Had a walk out yesterday morning to check a few setts,but nowt was at home so i went home,while i was reading the paper a friend phoned asked if i would pick some wood up for him so i went and collected it and told him i would meet him at his allotment to drop it of,I,d put my old dog in the truck with me so while i was waiting i thought id have a walk round the back of the allotments to see if he was interested in a sett i know behind there then i could just nip home and get my young bitch,but before i knew it he was off and straight down before i could catch him he was his game straight away

I know a bloke who is getting on a bit now but he told me him and a mate used to take their lurchers on to some land,but used to call at a keepers house while he was in the pub and take his spaniels out to work the reed beds for the hares,would of liked to have seen the keepers face when he came back.

Same with mine i was walking back from me allotment and the young bitch put a cat out the grass and took of after it,the funny thing is i sort of knew what was coming as i could hear a car coming down the bank,the dog took no notice of my calls and bump right under it,she was a little dazed and had a few scrapes but nothing really

Me too, small world ,but a bloke i know informed a keeper about the car i had [arsehole] so i had to find fresh pastures

Bunch of happy kids there,wish i got into the dog game at their age,i was a bit of a late starter,but made up for it when i got going,im trying to get my nephews out but the nintendo dosnt walk about in the rain.

Scrapman,just drive about taking washers and any other scrap i can get [with permission]not a great job but im my own boss and can just go out with the dogs if i feel like it,was going to sack it before xmas as it was shite but i got a few phone calls and hopefully it will pick back up.As most on hear dream job would be something in pest control or a page three photographer ha ha .

Thinking about it,what is everyones views on the working sealyham,i know lucas and others hailed them as the best dogs for badger,but surely thinking about it if they were THE BEST there would have been a lot more diggers carried on using them even after the badger laws for foxes,i know there was a few lads from up here used them but they were diluted with russell blood so couldnt really be classed as pure sealyham,not looking for an argument just an opinion.

Nice them,wor lass,s sister does them,not to that standard though,in fact all she ever seems to do is buy loads of stuff to do them but only does a few a year.

Good and bad in all breeds i dont work them now as i favour blacks but to be honest if i was to be offered a pup of some better working russells i would have a one,Got in invite through a mate for a dig and the keepers russell bitch grafted just as good as any dog that i,ve seen.

Its alright saying get a pup out of working stock but most lads who breed their dogs for graft arent going to give a young lad one of theier pups then the only people the lad can approach is the bloke who is breeding so called working dogs for big bucks or go to the classified ads for a cheaper alternative. when i was a lot younger everyone in my area had russells,some were used for graft and some were just pets but the grafters done what was asked of them so maybe sometimes its worth that chance.
