  1. Good luck to you my lakeys are pretty strong willed, never tried those collars always try to give them some titbit when they come back ,then when they are coming back regularly just give them something occasionly.
  2. So has anyone got any decent jagd earth dogs in this country? If yes what lines do they come from?
  3. Good start to the season, better than mine was out myself on sat tried a big place with my young bitch, maybe to big,she was in quite a while before she settled in one place so i dug down 1.8,when i broke through she was there but nothing with her so i let her go again in same sett and again 1.8 got down and she was there with nothing bit pissed of so back filled and went home,i know she is only young and learning so im going to try and get some shallow digs, but this permission ive got seems to be big places and the only two dogs ive got in is this bitch and a younger dog who is still a bit like
  4. Not slagging no mans sport and i have had plenty sport bushing and ratting, but in my opinion digging is a different kettle of fish wether im digging to one of my dogs or anybody elses any dog that finds stays and gets dug out is to be admired.
  5. Any pics, how much?how much tax and test?
  6. Cheers, you dont know unless you ask.
  7. Right lads i know what 4x4 means but what does 4x2 mean when someone is advaertising a motor cheers.
  8. I wouldnt put the magnet on a belt loop, seen a lad take the collar of a young dog who came out and put it on an old dog and it turned off,the only thing that we think that could of happened was the magnet touched the collar while transfering it,glad to say found the dog the old feshioned way.
  9. Most tattooists are doing black and grey work so just take a picture/photo along to the shop and work it from there but i would definately ask him for a look of some of his other work as ive seen some horrendous tattoos,if you do go for the black and grey stuff ask him if he has any photos of his work that are a few years lod as some of that stuff look amazing when it is first done but after a while cheap ink looks like shite.

I managed to get the ferret out and put it in with the nephews, but that will be a temporary measure if anyone wants a sandy hob with black eyes you can have it,ive also managed to get in and give the hens some mash but again because of the state of the place they will have to go aswell they arent no fancy breed but i get an egg each of the two hens everyday and there is a cockerel and a young hen from this years clutch if any one wants them, all free as its going to be quite awhile until i can get it looking normal again.

Got back from hexham sale yesterday were i went to bid for a walking stick with lurcher head, which i didnt get cos someone stole it before the sale,to find that the river derwent were i live has burst its banks and my allotment is under three and a half foot of water, the police and firemen wouldnt go across to get my chickens and ferret cos of the water going to fast, looking across from the other side of the river i can see some stuff bobbing about insice so i think the ferret hutch will have been swept over,i cant see the chicken hut as its at the back so im keeping my fingers crossed,to make
  12. Easiest one was on a ash tip, hardly had to put any effort into it as was also only a spade full and i was through.
  13. Had a twelve foot dig just before this season started with a keeper for a vixen and cubs,to be fair it wasnt to bad as it was through sand, but what didnt help was the lad with the locater kept checking and funny enough it was always two foot more even at the six foot mark, got to agree with the rest though it dos depend what your digging through,i had a five foot dig through an old tip that had buildings on that were just knocked to the ground some of the lumps of stone were huge and i was by myself and had forgot my phone but got through to my old dog right up to his game, happy days.
  14. Probarbly get slated for this but just find some land and work it if somwone challenges you apoligise and tell them youll not come on again, there is quite a bit land lads go on and no one says anything, normally land that isnt getting farmed.
  15. Was up there myself, weather was a bit crap, only seen borders walking about then russells came from every direction, shame there wasnt more lakys and crossbreds, dont show myself but not a bad day, there was a bloke walking round with a sealyham was going to ask him if he worked it but he went before i could have a bit crack.

  19. Went out yesterday morning to get a dig to start the season, knew of a earth to try not to far from home, anyway got there and it was showing signs of use and both young dogs keen to have a look,so i collared the young bitch up and let her go flew to ground couple of mins then came out and went down a different hole, after a while with my head down the hole i heard her connect so i give her a little while to settle, then had a scan about with the b+f got a mark at 2.2metres so i gave the ground a few whacks with the shovel they were still there so started digging when i was about half way down i l
  20. Terriers Grandsons face lighting up when he sees me, knowing he can go over the allotment with the dogs to feed the hens and ferrets and throw stones in the river, which he would do all day long.
  21. Its good on those long boring summer days to talk to the old timers, can teach you a few things aswell.
  22. Probs already been asked but here goes,I need a pair of waterproof trousers that i can wear by themselves[not over the top of a normal pair of trousers]as i find this pretty uncomfortable geting over fences, they also need to be hard wearing as working terriers gets you were you wouldnt normally go,middle of brambles and such like,i also dont want them padded as it gets rather hot digging,so if anyone can point me in the right direction ill be grateful thanks.
