The key elements Jake are; They must have known you personally for at least two years and, They hold a position of authority and/or responsibility. A serving police officer/police staff can't sign it and neither can your doctor unless you know him personally. I know Doctors do sign them but the legislation quite clearly says known personally which isn't true for most people. Your boss at work is a good bet, or if you know any lawyers, teachers, company owners/directors etc A relative can sign provided they are not close or immediate family. I.e. your third cousin who's a

Have you got an FAC at the moment or is this a new application? You need the permission of the owner of the shooting rights wherever you intend to shoot, regardless of whether your FAC is open or not, In essence it's a matter of trust and risk. A closed ticket allows the police to restrict where you shoot to where they deem suitable so it lessens the risk and an open ticket is when you have enough experience to be able to make the decisions properly yourself. It could be 6 months after grant or 5 years when it's renewed, depends on the area you're in and how they view it. If y

I've had one for about three years now, I love the gun, it's light even with a moderator and scope and the action is very fast to reload yet is still as accurate as a bolt action because the bolt locks in place, It can easily out-shoot me

Folks, Back for sale is my CZ .17HMR Varmint with a 16" heavy-barrel including scope mounts, moderator & approximately 200 rounds of ammunition but not the scope itself (needed for other things ) I've had the gun for a few years and it shoots as you'd expect a CZ to i.e. a lot better than I can. It has decent wood for a CZ with a few 'working' dings as you'd expect but otherwise in great condition, The only reason I've decided to let it go is through lack of use and its wasted sitting in the cabinet, Looking for £350 and I'm based in South West Wales (no sheep jokes p

Help Please. Shotgun Repair
SportingShooter replied to Fieldsports's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Top lever spring they're called It does look like a Spanish gun and the parts are pretty standard on a lot of guns, An RFD may have an old gun in for destruction that he can take a spring off for you. -
Help Please. Shotgun Repair
SportingShooter replied to Fieldsports's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I wouldn't try and repair that one, the amount of pressure that spring gets put under it would likely fracture again, Those V springs are fairly standard and on almost all Side by Side guns, I'm guessing De Luxe is the model, do you know the maker's name? -

Gun Protection When Out In Rain????
SportingShooter replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
If you fired the gun enough for the barrel to get hot with a mixture of wax and oil on it then I dare say it will melt and fix itself very firmly to the barrel, Because of the blueing you can't use anything abrasive to remove it and it would look a mess. -
Beretta A400 Running In Suggestions Please
SportingShooter replied to arrybash's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
If you can only use 28g loads then that's all you can shoot, I can see where the dealer is coming from in that a heavier load will probably loosen the action faster than lighter loads but not everything is about weight, The larger the load of lead then generally the slower it will be pushed by the cartridge, however the recoil may be comparable to a lighter load travelling very fast. For instance, there may be the same felt recoil from 36gr of No.5s travelling at 1300FPS as there is from a 28g FITASC clay load travelling at near 1700FPS. It will break in and I'm sure a Beretta -
Putting Another Shotgun On Your Licence
SportingShooter replied to STRANGER's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
That's good. It amazes me in the 21stC with all the tech we have there is not a centralised firearms registry system with a website that you can access to complete a simple form and submit it. All relevant parties could do this and notification of receipt sent via e-mail. We're still pissing around with paper licences ffs! The whole thing is archaic! They need an app with the relevant hashtags etc etc obviously... Agreed They have a national database for all FAC/SGC/Exp holders and all their guns, I'm sure they could make a web interface to add or subtract guns fro -

Sgc And Fac Licensing Question
SportingShooter replied to RemyBolt's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
You may as well send them both the same time, Costs you less money, if you want both then apply for both, licensing department only have to make one visit, Seems like everyone's a winner. -
You'll need a permanent address here but I don't think there is a restriction on EU citizens who are permanently residing in the UK applying for Shotgun Certificates.

Putting Another Shotgun On Your Licence
SportingShooter replied to STRANGER's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
If you've disposed of it then you only need to notify the police that you've done just that and who you sold it to, Nothing to enter on your Certificate on this occasion -

Most licensing departments now accept notification by email, Check first with yours but I find it much easier -
Are you intending to live permanently in the UK and is there someone who lives here who has known you personally for the last two years that can countersign your application?

My licensing department also wouldn't like me using cannon, They turned me down for one of these on a 1 for 1 variation of my HMR for vermin and occasional Fox, I tried to explain it was for 1000+ yards but they didn't fancy it.
