  1. propaganda has been in use forever but i doubt this is the case here. i doubt the BBC, ITV and all other british media could have faked something on that scale. instead of people being so cynical and dismissive, people could be a bit more supportive of the lad. if hes been , mucking in with the others then good for him, its what he wants. maybe hes a royal with a bit of common good in him and perhaps thats what people cant accept. and as for being on the piss all the time what guy in his early twenties isnt. ss06
  2. certainly he should be no different to anyone else out there but if the lives of his troops are in danger then he must be treated differently, i take my hat off to him for doing it the first royal in 25 years to go on active service on the front line. it cant have been easy persuading the MOD to let him go and i bet hes chuffed he has gone 10 weeks without being found out and if hes given those talaban a reason to keep their heads down good on him. and as for him fighting for his Grandmother and his country of which he may one day be sovereign of then i personally think he should be immensely
  3. yep it seems they are the same company or at least made in the same factory. check out their website chuck CZ into google and its something like Cseska Zabrovka or sometihng ss06
  4. it is really a beautiful sight to see them especially this time of year when they soar in the thermals. always fills me with a sort of satisfaction that they have survived in wales. down here i have seen in the last two days a sea eagle, what do you think of that, and it was definately one as three people who were with me saw it and are all keen amateur birdwatchers. the sheer size of this bird is phenomenal. i bet old charlie fox is afraid to come out with one of those about, ah well less lamping for me then. ss06
  5. here in south wales you do not see a great deal, a few perhaps, but drive to somewhere like rhyader, mid wales and youll see hundreds being fed at the feeding stations. you are right in that these birds were very very rare and almost extinct in the mid last century down to only 2 breeding adults and those were in wales. they were so rare and precious that they even had Gurkhas guarding the nest. you could go and see the nest but you'd never see the Gurkhas but they were there 24 hours a day. happily they are now up to an estimated 400 breeding birds or pairs i cant exactly remember, so hop
  6. 4's will do just fine as long as youve got an accurate shot and a good tight choke. plus theres a lot of them in 46gr. i have had a very lucky and slightly spooky day. i walked into my local gun shop to get some my shipment of clay carts, 10,000 of em. and what was on the shelf behind the counter. 50gm remmy magnums in 2 shot!! just as before. he had a case of 100 there/10 boxes and i bought the lot along with my clay carts so v. v. expensive day! they work out at just under £1 a shot! oh well , i like em and they do the job so i wont complain. thanks ss06
  7. Is anyone else tired of these protests. protesting is all very well but this is getting rediculous. why cant they protest in the normal way on the ground. all these protests are doing is making people tired of the issue and not getting anything constructive done. and as for parliament, how do they hope to influence the MP's to vote in their favour on these issues if they disrupt thier working day. ss06
  8. no problem. what shot size are those express 46gr? you could be waiting a while for the remmys or yo may just happen across them somewhere. good luck. thanks ss06
  9. the illuminated reticle helps when in low light aparently, i hope to be taking around 250yrd shots max so it should suit my needs, and as im not shooting targets and am more likely to shoot at night i think i will go illuminated. thanks ss06 p.s if you get one before i do let us know what you think.
  10. i bought one box of ten from one place and shot those within about 6 weeks and had to wait until about two months later when i walked into a different gunshop from the original and they had one box left. so i had them. that was 18 months ago and i aint seen any, anywhere since. shame because they were a good shell and they worked in the auto. packed a hell of a punch too i remember trying one before i tried them on foxes. shot a crow while pigeon shooting, he must have been 60 yards up and was in a hell of a mess when he landed! thanks ss06
  11. mate of mine has one on his 223 with no problems. is it for fox or targets please. Hi its for both which is why i was looking at the 6-24xmag one i fancy one of those on my .222 when i get it. they come recommended from a few people i know who also use them for foxes. they are £179 on litt's website. this is where ill probably get my rimfire so ill buy a scope there the same time and i usually get a good price if you buy a few things at a time. thanks ss06
  12. that is quite a show, if only i performed like that in a pigeon hide. i have shot the xtrema 2 in 3 shot and agree it is a very low recoil and very accurate just cant afford one. good luck with your fac for a 12 shot, like to see the licensing departments face when they see youve applied for 12, be like someone sucking on wasp i bet. thanks ss06 p.s his cartridge bill must be in millons$$$$$
  13. the most ive heard of on any gun is a 10 shot. this was a benelli. not sure how many you can get on an xtrema but they certainly are good guns. i imagine it is 8. thanks ss06
  14. choke is the determining factor of what pattern a gun throws as mentioned on here before. the best patterns are formed by long chokes. they distribute the shot as evenly as possible and therefore leading to a better pattern. most guns out there are still fixed choke so if foxing is the order of the day, fairly tight ones are called for. the problem with putting a lot of shot through a tight choke is that the pattern tends to 'blow' meaning that there are more fliers which as you know does not contribute to the pattern, so you need to find a good compromise. my first serious gun was a miro
  15. just think if one day people like them could be the rule not the exception, nice idea! perhaps we could get the Hunting Act thrown out of the Commons and into the thames. thanks ss06
  16. i agree on two points with you scallywag. 1. i dont like the fact that winters are milder and ive got daffodils in my garden in january 2. i think that those who enjoy the environment around us should want to protect it but not by climbing on top of a Boeing 737 causing security breaches, it makes things worse. if people are to work together it needs to be constructive. but i dont agree on the fact that some are on our side, id have too many reservations about people being two faced and just trying to infiltrate our way of life, again just my opinion. at least there is some common ground
  17. the countryside march was performed by people who work hard for their living and by not just hunters but plenty of other fieldsport enthusiasts aswell. how many days work do those greenpeace demonstrators do that contribute to the country. the march was symbolic and relatively peaceful and inconvenienced few people inside london apart from the traffic. which is what greenpeace want after all isnt it, no polluting cars on the street. not to mention their diesel powered ships. just venting my opinion and it may not be true of quite all of the greenpeace gang but certainly many of them if they
  18. I have used some Remmy 50gm 3" cartridges in US no. 2 shot and now you come to mention it Snap Shot they didnt give me any trouble whereas 3" express BB wouldnt cycle the second round. they are damn good shells too, looking back at my diaries out of the two boxes of ten i had i dropped 17 foxes to the first shot using full choke. but they are so hard to find i had to revert to express 53 gm BB. if you can get hold of em tenkystoddy try them they wont disappoint, but buy as many as you can as they may not be there next week. hope this helps ss06
  19. has anyone seen the news this lunchtime, greenpeace demonstrators have climbed on top of a Boeing at heathrow and pinned a banner over climate change to the tail. does anyone else see this as a situation only a pressure group suchas them could get away with. anyone else would have had an armed response unit pointing MP5's at them but not this lot. anyone else share this view that they get away with murder? thanks ss06
  20. i have found this on a few autos i have tried in the past which i used for foxing so 3" BB's were the order of the day. not all the time but it certainly happened more than i wanted especially when you wanted a quick second shot on a fox. the best i have tried was a franchi harrier which has a piston which can be changed over to fire light game shells or heavy magnums, this didnt have the problem when i tried it, it was a friend if mine's who lamps with me so we swapped for the night and it fired all three magnums in one go at one point. the problem is that all fired 3" shells are exactly th
  21. if only you were shooting them with an actual cannon, you may get them all then. shot two this season here in wales, ever tried eating one, its damn impossible to stop the smell and takes an hour to chew on one piece. ss06
  22. more than capable!!! they reckon they can be accurate to 100 yrds but sticking to 50-60 is sensible as an injured boar really is dangerous to the shooter!! they arent dangerous for the shooter if all normal safety precautions are taken. ss06
  23. here we have two problems. to answer your first question, yes all shotgun barrels can fir slugs with little choke in them, excessive choke makes no difference with slugs. first problem , you need an FAC to have shotgun slugs and this can be hard to obtain as many police forced dislike slugs because they are so deadly, but you may have a good reason if you state you are going boar hunting and can prove it eg a booking receipt etc. second problem, all shotguns which are going to fire slugs must be on a firearms cert or section 1. this does not mean they all have to be over three shot but you
  24. certainly an odd looking coin. if i were you id look on google for coin dealers and see if you can match it. then again it may turn out to be worthless, and it dont look like a 2p or cent. always good to know. i have just tracked down a 1775 george III halfpenny, took a bit of time though. thanks ss06
  25. not really may just alter the feel of the gun to the 425. i agree with deker, there really id no difference apart from how the gun fits you, so give the beretta a go on wed and decide then if i were you thanks ss06
