Thanks for the reply Graham, this is certainly the impression i was always under, and it was the way i was originally taught to think of it and so it is now second nature to me. I was just trying to see if i was correct in my knowledge of this [apparently] little known 'quirk'. This definately confirms my practices and belief on this point. Thanks again bud, Grim.

Thanks for your reply on this Chris - much appreciated. Regards, Grim.

Gloster, Nice one! I am pleased to see that it is working for you so far, and happy for you in your new-found permission! As has been said, just make sure you do all that is asked of you by the landowner, and always show good and (more importantly) SAFE behaviour when you are there on-site mate, and you will not go wrong. Now you have had one 'yes' reply, that should make it a bit easier for you when approaching landowners in the future - bearing in mind of course that it would look even better for you if the future approaches are made after you have shown your mettle on your

Peter, I would just like to say please keep at it mate - you WILL get there in the end! You may get knock backs here and there, but you will come by a 'yes' sooner or later (more sooner, i hope ), and one yes can only help you to get another one. Best of luck to you and keep wearing them down bud! Regards, Grim.

Hi whippeter, I was going to reply with a snap or two of mine - an Air Arms S310 (the fore-runner to today's S410 ) but when i was looking at my photos, there do seem to be quite a few! If you want a look, then you can use the 'clicky' in my signature, as well as going to 'my album' in my profile - that way you can veiw those that are of interest to you. I have had my S310 for about 6 years now and it has never let me down yet. I don't regret the day i got it - never have, most likely never will either! My rifle is sub 12ft/lb and operates very well indeed. it is .177 calibre an

Yes, I have seen this as well - i DID think about doing it to my mags for the S310, but then decided not to. I decided not to do it because of the very likely possibility of getting all sorts of crap and crud in the mags kinda made it taste somewhat 'sour' to me? Regards, Grim.

This is the thing i was trying to get across, but like you, where I have seen it eludes me at this moment. I will, if i find out where, let you all know. Cheers, Grim.

Yes Davy, I too have that document, as well as others, and that is what I was given to believe as well? It was how I was taught from day one really, so by now, for me, it is second nature I guess? Regards, Grim.

I have (but won't bother again TBH! ) 'popped' in 'over there' and made a reply or two to THIS thread, I would be interested in what your opinions are on it - in respect of the article in the agw december 2008 by matt manning, in which he says about the pre=loading up of air rifle magazines prior to making a shooting trip.? I have always thought this not to be the correct thing to do, because as far as I am aware, a magazine pre-loaded with pellets (even if it is nowhere near the rifle itself during transit from home to shooting site) is deemed in Law to be a firearm? I am sure that is

Jazz, No worries bud - that is, after all, what this place exists for, to provide help to others when it is needed or asked for. Regards, Grim.

Hi Spud Gun, Try having a look at THIS , it was written by a good friend of mine, and it will tell you what you need to know about applying for an FAC cert? I hope this helps you some? Regards, Grim.

Hi Air Gunner, Moderators/silencers work in two ways - making the shot silent, and lessening the turbulent air from around the pellet. The internals of most moderators contain A) a series of baffles, B) a set of spacers, and C) some kind of sound supressing medium. Ok, now the baffles, spacers and sound supressing medium all work in tandem with each other to help contain the 'sound' of the shot - you can appreciate that say, a PCP when fired without the mod attached is really quite loud - loud enough certainly to scare everything else away in the field when you take a shot! You wi

Hi AKeeNShoT, With respect, I would point out that Buster 321C posted the very same document to the forum on 21st june this year - here. Now, when you say "here's mine . . . . .", are you meaning 'yours' in respect that its the one you use, or 'yours' as in you made it? It would appear (to me at least) that the document would seem to belong to Buster 321C, in the sense that he would appear to have authored it? I am only stating what I see here, and therefore, what would seem to be the case? Cheers, Grim.

Jazz_11, As a rule, the S400 is the single shot rifle, and the S410 is the 10 shot rifle? That is not say that you can't of course, use the s410 as a single shot rifle - you can, simply by introducing a pellet into the breech manually each time, but this kind of negates the function of it being a 10 shot rifle though, when you think about it? On the other hand, you can also use the S400 as a multi shot rifle by purchasing a conversion kit, which will give you the facility to use the kit's magazine in the single shot rifle, but you will most likely have to manually index the magazi

Deker old buddy, how it pleases me so to see you chuckle 5 little words . . . . . . "Oh, shut up, you tart!" But seriously though, I have found that to be the case mate, truth be told, albeit mostly on non living static type targets I admit - with the odd exception being the occasional close range (5-10 yard) rat here and there around the garden. . . . with good results on pellet expansion, and thereby wound extent and shock level? Having said that, like i say, i haven't tried it on living quarry such as rabbit, crow, maggie or owt else - just the odd rat. Best regard

I have found that an RWS SuperDome in .177 works well when put into the breech arse about face? When fired, the arse-end of the pellet hits the target first of all. It makes for the mother of all hollow-points! Always worked well for me at the closer ranges, like? Regards, Grim.

Here ya go bud: Fireball pellets .. Regards, Grim.

To answer a question (if i can) is no problem in the slightest mate - I'm simply glad enough to have been of any help to you. In fact, I would say keep them coming - asking questions all helps any of us to become that much better than we are now bud. Regards, Grim.

.177 all the way get a flerter (catapult) if you want a .22 mate .177 hw100t gives 110 shot per fill, .22 hw100t 125 shots, .22 s410 around 60 shots per fill, .177 s410 maybe 40 shots. .177 shoot alot further and flatter than a .22 and you can only shoot .177 at gun clubs, ft shooting as well .177 around 800 feet per second, .22 around 500 to 600 feet a second. hope this helps Hmmmm . . . . . I definately get a lot more than 40 shots from one fill with the S310 in .177 cal.? Once the cylinder is filled (to 180 bar) and ready to go, i fire off 70 shots before i need to fill

Hi Mitch, I got the finished look for the stippling by a bit of mucking about with a bit of steel rod, a bench grinder, and an off cut of walnut left over from the stock making. What i did was to grind the rod and had a couple of 'test puches' on the off cut, and then ground the rod tip again, had a test, and kept testing and grinding until i came up with the desired tip shape i wanted. Whe i got to that point, what i did then was to just use a tacking hammer and kept tapping the rod while moving the rod around the work piece in a random fashion, until i had the pistol grip suitab
