In the past, I have tried many things so as to make challenges up for myself in order to better myself in the aiming of my air rifle (these have been done whilst shooting from our conservatory down to the bottom of the garden - 30 yards). Among those things I have tried are : # I can cut matchsticks in half, placed vertically. # I can snipe a daisies off their stems ( me and a mate have a yearly comp at my gaff, for a fiver each in the pot - winner takes all, 30 shots each. # I have hit and exploded a few insects - mostly flies on jam specks on the back-stop (and missed as man

"Father, forgive him . . . . . for he knows not what he says!" :11: Hello Deker, long time - no see, nice to see you around! Or have I just not been seeing the trees for the wood again!? Regards, Grim.

The above blue text is just my take on it. Regards, Grim.

Cunninghamb, Hey mate, the airgun section wan't always like it has been this last years or so? In my mind, it has happened simply because there have been some knobbers/tossers/twats [call them what you will] who have managed to get in and to make it go down the crapper, but I have a feeling they won't be here over long!? Hell, even I used to post regularly there, if I saw something where I could help out. But I look at it now and think "why should I say anything on [A, B, or C] because it [the thread] will only end up going to shit, so sod it - no, I won't reply!". The sad thin

@ SS - I like it bud! Regards, Grim.
-
Well said SS - succinctly put, thanks for your insight there - I for one certainly wasn't too aware of some of those points. ! You have included too something along the lines of what i was going to try and illuminate - the ratcatcher being classed as an air rifle, not pistol. Regards, Grim.

Awwww Craig , old buddy . . . . . If only we were situated a bit closer, huh? I'd soon have that old girl driving tacks in for you at them ranges pal Regards, Grim.

Although I voted for the S410, I don't actually own one - I myself own the S310 (S410 fore-runner ), but that is the closest option given the poll choices. As for the calibre - well . . . . . . . . . we all know what one is best, eh? . . . . . . I mean to say, all day long, it just has to be . . . . . . .177 !! Now then, THAT'S thrown the cat among the pigeons now . . . . . Regards, Grim.

Hi CupCake, A little thing that may help you out for shot placement is to remember to aim the rifle so that the cross hairs are at a point which is halfway between the eye and the ear base - that is your mark mate. As to the 'hit & run' rabbit: very unfortunately (though i HOPE, rarely), sometimes this will happen to anyone - no matter how long their particular shooting experience, I'm afraid. Certainly, it has happened to me on a (pleased to say) few occasions in the past.:s Half of the problem is the excitement the shooter feels from the chase, and because of that, the sh

Hi JohnB, I don't own the S300, but I DO own the S310 (multi-shot version of the S300) and so may well be able to help out? For the specifics, I'd need to know what calibre the one you have been offered is, and say, if you were to PM me the relevant details (or as much info which you know even) I will do what I can to get all the information I can come by for you? Regards, Grim.

Snakes 1989, Breathing is everything mate. Try doing what I am just going to tell you, and you will see what I mean. Try just looking through the 'scope at a target - DON'T shoot though - for this excercise, just simply look. Now then, you are looking through the scope at a target (whatever that may be) ok? Right, look at the point where the cross hairs are centered on the target. Keep the bead on the target and just keep breathing normally - you will notice the crosshairs will move up and down a bit with every breath? When you breath in, the cross hairs will move down, when you

Grim Reaper replied to billy the kid 1984's topic in Airgun Hunting
i know mate we are all ment to be in this together giving each other advice and opinions not insults and piss taking.we all like a joke but some people are out just to make arguments ah, but you soon get to know the so called "hunters" on here, must be feckin touch typers in my opinion I'm a touch typer SS old mucker, I er . . . . . think you um . . . got that wrong there pal - yes mate, because what you are, is a 'touched' typer!?!?? Regards, Grim. -

Yes . . . . and as we all know, Sean old son - you can't beat a good crack! All the best pal, Grim.

Clever sod - you, ain'tcha pal! Getting all fancy now - with the red text to match my blue bits . . . You'll be making them bloody flash next, knowing you!! With you - most impressed am I, my young Padawan! But seriously though, no worries Buster - anytime, you know where I am. Regards, Grim.

Just over 30 yards said my scope. ATB Michael You don't wanna go believing all that your scope tells you bud . . . . . especially when its telling you about how big the target is! TAXI!!!! All the best bud (and in good-humour ), Grim.

I hope the blue text above is of some help to you bud, I too have taken my AA mod apart and cleaned it out - what i did find is that it wasn't quite as good (on the internal workings front) as i had at first hoped it was - cheap materials, and not brilliantly put together in my opinion. Totally unlike the Wierarch mod, of course - am well happy with that purchase. Regards, Grim.
-
Well done Scuba bud - glad you had a good time! With regards to that HOOOGE rabbit - I am sure we have all been there at some point, if the truth be told. Regards, Grim.
-
Congratulations SS old pal, and my best wishes for sucess in your new post!! I was very nearly tempted to hand in my notice (with all that has gone on in here of late) but that's in abeyance - for now, I reckon! Err . . . . I'd best be orf then, in that case!?! Regards, Grim.
-
Thanks too Freddy, for your humour in your earlier reply - it's not often these days that this is happening lately in here? It is no bad thing at all when we as adults can admit we are (or could be) wrong - as we have both just done eh? It adds to the thread constuctively, i reckon All the best pal, Grim.
-
Freddy, No probs mate;) It may of course be me who may not have read things correctly - i just was thinking as i read it that it was a scope that may be at fault - there was a mention somewhere (at least i believe) about 'internals' and so just presumed it was a scope? Like i say, I could be wrong too. Regards, Grim.
-
Silly question, but one worth asking all the same! Have you tried to re-centre the cross hairs at all? If not, then have a go at doing so, and this will help further to find out if there is a problem with the scope internals. What I mean is, that if you cannot in fact re-centre the cross hairs at all, then it is very very likely that the internals are, or may have been knocked (of course, not necessarily by you, but it could have happened in transit from the manufacturer to the retail outlet, like? ). In this case, you would need to return it to the scope manufacturer (and not t

No problem buddy. Thankyou I agree with your 'can of worms' statement wholeheartedly - but unfortunately, 'they' have already had that idea, hence the above point i was trying to get out (and yes, i appologise for it having come out ever so slightly the wrong way round!! ). All the best, Grim.
