Thanks for your words Mal - much appreciated, in all respects! I have re-read my post above, and can now see that it does seem to have a bit of ambiguity in there i think, but no matter, i will try to sort that out ASAP. It certainly is a hard area to try and understand, and this is why it is important we all work together on things like these, when they come up in topic, to help devlop that understanding better. I reckon, anyway. Thanks again bud, Grim.

Hi Steve, Umm . . . If, by chance, I am the 'someone' to whom you refer, I would just like to take this opportunity to say something in defence of my post a little earlier on in this thread. With reference to the italicised text above: I didn't state or imply that to shorten the barrel of an air rifle is illegal, although maybe I should have done* - that is a mistake on my part, for which reason I am editing this post now. I was merely trying to point out a few points contained within the firearms act which I feel pertinent to the original enquirey? Namely, that to shorten

or have you had this information? How do you mean Zac mate? I am not sure what you are asking bud? Cheers, Grim.
-
You MAY find that accuracy can suffer a wee bit?, but it should be able to be overcome. With regards to the barrel shortening: So long as the total overall measurement from arse end of the rifle/action assembly right upto the muzzle end (this is taken with stock and any moderator removed, mind. ) doesn't come to less than 24 inches, then you'll be fine. Anything less than that, and things start becoming a bit more difficult - in respect of the Firearms Act, and the air rifle & air pistol classifications. All the best, Grim.

Thanks Sean, i am going to get some insurance when i can afford it but i'm so happy i have finally ggot permission for something. Cheers, Alex As I think I said somewhere in this thread, keep up, and never give in mate - you WILL get there in the end of things. " Tall Oaks from little acorns grow" Regards, Grim.

PM sent bud, and duly replied to - Cheers mate! All the best, Grim.

Hi Alex, If you haven't already seen them, click on the link in my signature, this will take you to the thread in the FAQ section of this forum where I've got some forms that you can copy and alter so as to suit your needs - just an idea which may help you out some? You can then hand them out to people when you speak with them - that way, you may get a surprise back. Also within the FAQ section, there are a few bits and peices that that I, and others have constructed, which you may also find of use or interest to you? Above all, NEVER give up hope - you WILL get there sooner o

Funny that you should say that Michael, as I do this exact same thing all the time with my S310, and have done it that way ever since I can remember? All the best, Grim.

Cheers bud - that's cool! You know you are more than welcome here anytime - ie: any w/end when i'm not due to work on call is fine with me mate. All the best, Grim.

It's not that funny a way of working really mate - thats just creativity for you Midge bud. My original drawing for my own walnut stock looks very different to what the finished artical now looks like, i too had re-thoughts along the way. But that is the beauty of doing things in this way - the more you think about something, then the more ways you can see of making improvements along the way, Innit!? Like I say - creativity. Regards, Grim.

It's nice to see someone who is not afraid to ask questions, and who is willing to learn from the answers/advice that is given by others - keep it up mate! Regards, Grim.

I tend to prefer kneeling shots, as a rule, but am just as good prone from a bi-pod. Regards, Grim.

Craig, my old bud, Please can you get in touch with me A.S.A.P pal - PM sent All the best, Grim.

With regard to the highlighted text, yes, you would think that would be the case, and for the most part is true enough - that is of course, assuming no alterations are made to the length of the barrel itself (ie, to make it less than 12 inches long) , and thereby altering the overall length of barrel/action comination so as to make it less than 24 inches in total. Regards, Grim.
-
No, it would still be classed as an air rifle - due mainly to the length of the barrel. In other words, as long as the barrel length is over 12 inches it will be classified as an airrifle, and not as an air pistol. Not quite right there, methinks. I believe that so long as the total overall length (without stock) is over 24 inches, you'll be fine - it will only be able to be classified as an air rifle, and not as an air pistol. It does indeed mate. The barrel MUST be over 12 inches long, and the total overall length of the whole barrel/action combined (without the stock) mus

Sometimes he writes stuff for the mags yeah, but the pillock also edits them (AGW mainly, but he has his fingers in the other one too ), and so therefore, only the things HE and his crones want in there get in to the final publication I reckon. In answer to the OP's question, I used to regularly buy Air Gunner, in the days when it was a totally different crew editing it and putting it all together, but since the day when they came to be pressed by the same publisher, and now have the crew they have, I honestly haven't bothered at all with Air Gunner since. To be completely honest, m

Yes Buster, that's quite true bud! It seems to me that, at the crems and cems, i would appear to have some sort of immunity from getting scared when i'm there 'after hours' - i don't what could possibly be the cause of that? . . . . It must be my persona/physique/complexion?? Lol All the best pal, Grim. And i thought it was cause you look like Yevette Feilding Saucy bugger, you, Buster!! Mind you, it could have been a whole lot worse - you could have said ester bloody rantzen!!! LMAO Regards, Grim. -

Aww, it's no worry to be there alone 'after hours', so to speak - in fact, i think it is much the better for it really. At these places, you will see an abundance of squirrels and woodies (plump woodies at that ), as well as quite a few corvids - crows, maggies to boot. Also, quite possibly, in the margins or open ground areas, you will often see a few rabbitses here and there too . . . . Regards, Grim. -
