  1. hedz fair play ,as long as you enjoy em thats what matter, what ever you hunt, hunting with a terrier in cover or a full pack of fell hounds, its still a sight to behold, some fine hunts were had as kids hunting pit yards and railway banks with a mix bunch of curs, some we borrowed from neighbours
  2. I find them no different from any other hound if there left to hunt and waffle on other quarry so i would say it was how they were entered,we hunt a pack of beagle's and beagle/basset's and a couple are from a hare only and a couple from fox only pack's.i dont hunt fox only no more and hunt anything with them and the draght hound's that were fox and hare only took a while to get on what else we were hunting and did stay true and ignore other scent's for a few week's hedz it was for sure there entering, the ones i talk of were hunted like you said on anything,so never quite took to fox only,bu
  3. been out with em hunting fox and found them hard to keep true, but that might be due to how they were entered.the few the lads had came as adults.they would hunt fox well when on ,but they did go well on hare ect.
  4. yes daren they dont have em,sorry
  5. bunnys know were you coming from ,when we was kids all rabbits caught got used for dinner, dont get many these days but still eat em ,think its underrated as a food by some or they cant be botherd to do em,saying that as kids we took turns with a bit of chewing gum, the good old days
  6. only kept 2 pair irish this year +2 spair cocks that are older than me,both pair hatched weekend looks like a 5 and 4,but not had a proper look cos i aint entered the flight just watched em so i was sure they got fed,all looks ok a mo.my plan is to keep all chicks reared this season fingers crossed.good luck all

  14. got 2 nests with eggs, will post if any good end of week, spot on fireman about weather got em wanting to nest then had a very cold spell with hard frost,a blackbird was sitting eggs in a fir back of mine and chicks have hatched, she sat through some real bad frosts ,i thought they would fail to be honest.

  17. as kids we ferreted rats at maggot farms, but the ferrets did get some bad bites, think some threw the towel in,but we all had plenty of ferrets at that time, found small jills were my best for the job.
  18. no mate pennines, lincs is too flat for us boys
  19. not got any at mo but have had ko,s and o in the past, had some nice white ko ,regret letting em go soon as lad drove from my place
  20. no expert tuzo but he is a belter, looks true to type ,stance ect, would you say he would do well at show,do you do any showing.
  21. thought you would know strong that ko are small cocks,,
  22. well done moll, credit were due they look smart,do they take much preping for the shows,
  23. Heard it said,Stone doesn,t hold scent aswell, abit similar to pine woods, seems to kill ground scent, but you would think Hounds are using Air scent more in these areas,Maybe wrong, but a Hunt surely is a combination of both Ground & Air scent ? defo a combination of ground and air dixiebop, such as hounds with heads up winding into cover,as for pine woods ect,not sure seen some good hunting in forestry blocks ,when scent as been good, think thats what makes it special its diff every time hounds are loosed, scent is unpredictable ,long may it remain that way
  24. whats peoples veiw on scent regarding temp change, for example as a cold morning warms in temp does the scent get poorer, and for the lads up north,is scenting better over scree ect when weather conditions have left the fells wet,so the fox is moveing over damp stones/rock.
