It also to do with swing and momentum of the gun in motion for longer range shots.
If you have a bit more weight in front, you can rely on keeping the gun swinging that bit longer when you pull the trigger.
If you have a shorter barrell, it is more suited to snap shot, and quick reaction shooting, such as skeet, where, move , mount shoot has to be undertaken in a very swift, single movement, and you will track the target, overtake it and shoot it.
