  8. not all lurchers will take squartter's, alot like your dog looks for movment in the beam. When you get your next squatter, walk your dog up to it, get your dog to the back of the rabbit, when the rabbit gets up slip your dog. It should learn take them , give it time. How old is your dog, it takes a couple of seasons to know the crack. I concur with bird on this point. If you can help the dog on ther angle of aproach it can sometimes omit the need to turn in the 1st stride or 2. . . . . if you know what I mean . . . . well I know what I mean ant way

" and when you are out hunting is theer any other dogs with you . only reason im asking you is that when out hunting and there is another dog some times dogs that have been trained with no other dogs there sometimes they dont like to come back all the way because of the other dog ! just a thought for you" - 90% it is just me or my son. I fully appreciate that some dogs are jealous retrievers. thx for your input
  11. my dog will happily retrieve a dead rabbit to me in the garden at ft time after time. In the field he will catch and come in to at best say 10 yards, but just wont make the last bit to hand. Eventually he drops the rabbit and comes in. He has never gone walkabouts with the kill, and comes in when he has missed to a click of the fingers or a short whistle. He is 2 years now and from my perspective I think it wil either "click" into place or perhaps this is the best I'm gona get. . . . . what dya reckon? I hunt on my own or with my son, very rarely with another dog, and if we do the ot

  13. . ;. . . this should be interesting. I have a dog that is a reluctant retriever and sounds very similar in nature. not excitable at all, and treat based training only works when he it suits him. also interesting that there is no feedback...

Acidosis Alert By Dr Heather Burton – Vetsearch International Acidosis or exertional rhabdomyolisis is a condition that can occur in healthy athletes as well as in the greyhound. We have probably all seen greyhounds that exhibit distress and pain in their muscles, particularly along the back and over the hindquarters. These muscle groups may appear swollen and tense and the dog finds it painful to change position and move around. Muscle protein may leak from muscles into the urine giving it a red-brown appearance. Is this condition
