  1. When I said about weetabix it was only for pups up to about 3/4 months. I know wheat doesn't agree with some dogs but it's a good way of getting calcium and fat in with goats milk and it's gotta be better than dry. I also don't feed dry mixed with raw as i was told they digest at different rates. Just occasionally feed a meal of dry. But this is getting less and less.
  2. Dry is what it says on the bag - Dry. Makes them drink alot. My dog is fed raw and rarely drinks. The odd occasion I do give him dry he drinks all day. Read up on BARF. It is a piece of piss. Plenty of fatty meat and bone, lamb breast, chicken wings, poultry necks, various mince, green tripe is great and full of goodness. Also once or twice a week get some veg in it, so if ou do a stew then chuck it a bowl full. Also for a pup - Weetabix and Goats Milk, Full fat rice pudding. I feed dry maybe once or twice a week now, just for convenience if I've got no raw at hand. Just fade the d

I thought it was medical more than what they have been told? I thought they have been starved of oxygen at birth or something? I mean, f*****g Quorn? Lol.
  4. Has anyone got pics of lakey x russel? A few lads have recommended them. Gaz
  5. Blowing definitely works. I used it when I started my pup retrieving his toy. He wouldn't let go. Say give and blow on nose. They soon get the hang of it and realise give means give.
  6. I asked the same question a couple of days ago. Got similar response and have changed my mind. If we do have a terrier then it will probably be kept indoors and lurcher out in kennel. Do people think this would work? Or would lurcher get jealous of terrier being inside? Ie when we get back from field he has to go in kennel but terrier doesn't. Gaz
  7. Thanks for replys. Skinner - What does the lakey add? Have you got one? I want it for mainly mooching with lurchers, bushing, ratting and just general going everywhere we go. Thanks Gaz
  8. I am not looking for a pup now but just putting the feelers out as I may be after one in the next 6 months. Just wondering if anyone is planning a litter between now and early summer time. Short and Stocky JRT or JRT cross. Smooth or Broken coated. If so any pics of potential dam/sire would be appreciated. Cheers Gaz
  9. Thanks for all the replies. I have seen some cracking whippets on here the last few weeks. One of these put over a coursing sal/grey bitch or vice versa could make awesome dogs. Is it just me who has notice this or are Saluki's like marmite? Some love them with a passion and some hate them with a passion. I love them :-) Gaz
  10. Interesting cross mate. If she's doing the job then who is to moan. All the best.
  11. Nice one! Love reading about pups coming on. Hopefully it will be me telling these stories next season. How old is the pup roxy? And what breeding? Sorry if this has been mentioned already in another thread and I missed it. Gaz
  12. Yeh get some pics of these whippets up lads.
  13. Thanks for the replys. If we went down the route of lurcher outside, terrier inside. Is this likely to cause jealousy issues? Bearing in mind they would be in garden together alot (supervised) and then bring terrier inside when we go out or to bed etc. Would this be more feasible? Gaz

  16. Sounds exactly how I thought mate. Thanks for the reply. Look forward to seeing pups. Gaz.
  17. He has got some muscle on him sticks. Fine example of the cross and very similar to the dog that first attracted me to them. What is his stamina like? Feet? Biddable? Loyal? Agile? Cheers Gaz
  18. Grdavison - how does yours with the dash of collie compare to sal/whip/grey? Does that extra bit of trainability come through? I have often thought about adding a dash of something else to this breeding to ease training as the saluki can be hard work. Maybe a touch of collie would be the way to go. Gaz
  19. Villebones - that pup looks a cracker. I am considering a little russel or russel/bull/patt etc for bushing and ratting. Gaz
  20. I have got a 5 month old lurcher, sal/whip/grey male. He is very well socialised showing no aggression to any other dogs at all. He currently lives indoors but his kennel is being delivered tomorrow and I'm going to be moving him outside over the next few weeks. He has got a fenced slabbed area which is about 10 foot square which the kennel is in. And then he has the run of the garden when I am there to supervise. We are looking to get a jack russel or jack x lakey pup in the spring and I am just after some opinions on housing. Firstly Dog or Bitch? I was thinking a bitch may kennel be
  21. Some cracking dogs. Love them. Irish Lad - Was your pup from Stoke? If so I have litter brother. Gaz
  22. Scales - get pic up in this thread mate. Richie Is it sal/whip/grey to full Wheaton? You got pics? Gaz
  23. As said above. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Saluki, Whippet, Greyhound Deerhound are THE running dogs. After this people add other breeds for qualities such as feet, nose, tenacity, coat etc. I don't think there are any breeds that would add what beddy/collie/bull/wheaton and the other common breeds add. For example, what would dalmation add that the above don't? Gaz
