  1. These look decent mate. How much you pay for a bag? Gaz
  2. So basically the ferrets we have today all came from the EU polecat and have just been "tamed" over generations? Regardless of colour? So if someone says they have an EU polecat then it is just the "original" or wild version of what I have? Thanks Gaz
  3. I am a complete novice to ferrets so forgive me if this sounds daft, ive got 2 x albinos and a polecat or im assuming this is a polecat coloured ferret? Are these all polecats? Will there be polecat in my polecat coloured ferret somewhere? Just trying to get my head round the terminology with all this talk of European poles etc. Gaz
  4. Cheers for replys, i think i will switch the cardboard for a decent layer of wood shavings and get rid of the litter tray, at least then i can just clean out the corner they are using and replace shavings etc. There sleeping box has currently got a few inches of the cardboard but they prefer to sleep in there hammock. Will give them an old jumper for the winter Thanks Gaz
  5. What bedding are you using for your ferrets and do you use litter trays or not? I am using shredded cardboard at the moment and a litter tray with clumping cat litter in it. However I cannot get them to use the litter tray at all. They either go under it or behind it. Ive tried putting there dirt in the litter tray and disinfecting other areas with no luck. The cardboard is a nightmare for cleaning out and just spreads the shit everywhere and makes a mess of the hutch. Would it be better to remove the litter tray and swap cardboard for wood shavings and just let them use a corn
  6. At the moment he hasn't seen much of them, they are in he front garden and he is in the back, mainly because the terrier would kill herself trying to get to them. But she is being rehomed Monday to one of my mates (for other reasons) so I will be putting the ferret hutch round the back with Rocky. He will be okay with them I think. Took him to the hutch yesterday and he was more interested in going for a walk than them, lol. How's Magik doing? Gaz at least he didnt want to eat them magiks doing fine now she has settled around cows again, measured her again yestaday and she se

  8. Cheers for replys lads. Can't wait get out and work them. And yeh bailey we will deffo have a day out over winter. All my mates have got Jills so it will be nice to have a few Hobs to push put any bigger stuff that Jills might struggle with. And yeh this poley is gonna be a big lad I think. All the best. Gaz
  9. Got my first ferrets this weekend. 3 Hobs, a 9 week old poley coloured off "Big-Bailey" who is a really sound bloke and sorted me out with a cracking 2 tier hutch. And then 2 little albinos off a local lad. The size difference for 3 weeks is unreal, here's a quick photo...
  10. Thanks very much mate. Got myself 2 little albino Hobs this morning. Will put pics up shortly. Gaz
  11. Thanks for replies folks. I have just got fixed up, a lad just down the road from me had got a litter ready. Cheers anyway.
  12. Thanks for the positive replys folks
  13. Okay cheers Col. Will just get another hob for now and castrate if required. Will look into Jills when I'm more experienced.
  14. Thanks for replies again. Ive just been to get my hutch and the last Hob kit off "Big_Bailey" from here. Well chuffed with him. Im going to get him a mate or 2 tomorrow morning, now what would you lads recommend? 2 Jills and then get my Hob vasectamised when the time comes? And hopefully keep him with the Jills year round. Or 1 or 2 hobs and then if and when they start scrapping get them all castrated? If I had 3 hobs then would it work getting 2 castrated and 1 vasectomised so that if I have Jills in the future he can service them? Thanks Gaz
  15. Cheers Bird. Oh yea I have definitely wanted to kill him at times! Lol.
  16. Cheers lurcher girl. I think that if I really keep on top of him now with recall and retieve then he will come good for this season. Fingers crossed. Gaz
  17. Glad you are making progress too. I can't wait for winter either :-) All the best.
  18. Cheers. This is what I have learnt over last few months.
  19. I'm collecting a polecat coloured hob kit tonight and would like a mate for him. Would like a BEW, Sandy or Silver but from good working lines is more important. Can collect anywhere in midlands or north-west this weekend. Thanks Gaz
  20. Cheers lads. Deffinitely answered all my questions.
  21. I will probably do what you do there Col. Bowl of dry always available. And supplement with rabbit or pigeon when available.Leaving carcass in overnight. Do you throw the pigeons in whole fresh from the field then? What about other birds? Cheers Gaz
  22. I can just imagine it... These bloodthirsty thugs who dont work, mis-treat there dogs, making them chase poor rabbits. Some of them won't even feed there dogs properly, they make them eat raw meat!!! Some evil ones even force the dogs to live outside! It will just be full of dribble, brainwashing the dick heads of modern society.
  23. Just wanted to see what people thought about my pups bizarre progress and if it typical of saluki cross or just a bad first time lurcher owner, Lol. Basically I got my pup (Saluki/Whippet/Greyhound) at 6 weeks old. For the first couple of months I hammered him with training (sit, stay, retrieve etc) and have since realised this was wrong and I should of let him be a pup and bond. Due to lack of bonding, by 5 months he would run off and not come near me, play up all the time etc and I would bollock him for this - making things worse. All of this time his retrieve has been non-existe
  24. Thanks for all the replies. So the general voting is to feed a fairly large meal either dry or a carcass late at night (10pm ish) and let them crack on with it through the night? Removing any remainder in the morning. What do the dry feeders do? Just allow access to dry food 24/7? Thanks Gaz
