  1. Thanks for replys lads. I'm picking up a hob kit and hutch off "big Bailey" tomorrow and will get him a hob to play with at weekend. Cheers to all.
  2. Thanks for replys. Is it a good idea to feed a dry food as a base and then supplement with meat as and when its available? I wouldn't wanna be in a situation where meat is scarce and they won't eat dry. Thanks Gaz
  3. Thanks for the reply. Do you gut the pigeons and squirrels or just feed them as they come? I do a bit of shooting so will have to get up the farm and get myself some free ferret food (loads of pigeons and squirrels). Gaz
  4. Just done a quick search to see what people are feeding there ferrets. Alot seem to feed dry or tinned. Do many of you feed whole rabbit as staple diet? And do you gut them or freeze them or fresh from the field? Do ferrets need worming regular like dogs? Gaz
  5. Me too. There are hundreds of black and tan lurchers kicking about.
  6. Okay thanks for the advise. I think I might just get a couple of Hobs to start off with and get them castrated if they fight. Then look at Jills and Vasectomised hobs further down the line. Thanks for advice fellas
  7. Would the vasectamised Hob do alright in a cage on his own? Cheers Gaz
  8. Another avenue im explororing is to get 1 hob and 2 jills and get the job vasectamised. He could then be used to being my mates Jills out of season as well a doing my own. Would he abuse the 2 Jills all year round? Or would he just hammer them in season? Could this be a good combination? Thanks Gaz
  9. Is £30 about the going rate for castration? That sounds cheap! I wouldn't mind 2 hobs and get them both castrated. Cheers
  10. Thanks alot for replies folks. I aren't sure which route to go down. I'm thinking maybe get a hob and get him vasectamised. All of my mates have got jills so would be nice to have a Big Hob to shift bigger stuff and also he ciould bring my mates jills out of season. Can a single hob live happily alone? Gaz
  11. What would be the cheapest option? Keep 2 or 3 jills and get jabs? Or keep 3 hobs and get them castrated when they are old enough? What's the cost of castration and spaying? I have no interest in breeding. Likewise would it be feasible to keep say 1 hob and 2 jills and just get them all castrated/spayed? Thanks for replies Gaz
  12. I haven't got ferrets but wouldn't mind at some point in the future. What are the basic principles of keeping jills and grtting them mated when in season etc? I know they can get Poorly or die if they aren't mated and I know they can be mated by a castrated hob or vasectomised Hob? Is this correct? Would it be acceptable to keep a couple of jills and a vasectomised hob together year round? Or do people just keep a hob seperate? Also what is the difference between vasectomised and castrated? Thanks Gaz
  13. Saluki Crosses are wank. I think everyone should forget about them and stop running them
  14. Sound pups mate but I thought that sire pictured is a full saluki? Where's the collie come from? Cheers Gaz
  15. You ask to see other people's kennels, you get a genuine reply asking to see yours first and you fire back with "Er No"? And then fire abuse at anyone who replies to the topic? Slating lads dogs? You my friend are a ball bag. Not just any ball bag, a sweaty, sticky, flea ridden ball bag. All the best.
  16. saluki/whippet/greyhound fast with stamina what size do you reckon that would make? i was think of getting one about 21 to 23 inchs You won't go far wrong with sal/whip/grey in my opinion. As for size, you could have anything from a big 26" Dog To a small 22" bitch. My mate has got a lovely little bitch, 3/4 Grey 1/4 Saluki put over full whippet. 23" tts, Acceleration is outstanding and top speed certainly ain't slow. Stamina to burn. Good luck in whatever you choose. Gaz
  17. I do agree with you bird. But it annoys me when people say "it's just a lurcher." That could mean f**k all. It could be anything from a deerhound with a dash of bull to a whippet with a dash of jack russel. I think it's nice to know exactly what went into the pups but each to there own Gaz
  18. Assuming the dam is 3/8 bull then pups will be 1/4 bull 3/4 grey. 1/8 bull + 3/8 bull = 4/16 bull 4/16 = 2/8 = 1/4 Gaz
  19. Assuming the dam is 3/8 bull then pups will be 1/4 bull 3/4 grey. 1/8 bull + 3/8 bull = 4/16 bull 4/16 = 2/8 = 1/4 Gaz
  20. Nice looking bitch. Sounds a handy cross.
  21. What a cracking looking pup. Got a soft spot for staffys. All the best with the sale.
  22. Hope he goes on alright fella. Gaz
  23. I used to use shredded cardboard, would be awesome if kennel was in a shed. The only downside was that it got all over the garden and blew everywhere, hence why it would be good in a shed. Other than that it was really warm and absorbent, odour free, could be left in for a week or 2 easily. Loved it. Now I've switched to just carpet on the kennel floor and a pet bed mat type thing which is £2.99 from JTF wholesale. Got a few of them which I wash every week or when dirty and alternate. They are basically a 2" thick foam mat with a cotton/nylon cover. This I find is plenty for summe
