  1. thankyou iam genuine and will stick to my comment about the farmer knowing, its like would you know if someone has been in your garden while you was asleep??? as a farmer once said to me when he caught me walking over his fields, hey son you wouldnt like me to walk through your garden without your dads knowing now would you. meaning both are the same as to each one, Can't believe I'm hearing this. I can hear birds chirping at the bottom of my garden, I could hear a mouse entering my shed. My garden is about 10 foot by 20 foot. We are talking acres of farmland here, 100s
  2. SGA is looking like the one then. Was gonna go with BASC for my air rifle shooting but now I'm into ferreting, lamping, mooching then I think it would be useful to have something that covers a wider spectrum. Cheers Gaz
  3. If you are genuine (which I doubt) then good luck. I just don't know how anyone in this game with a full picnic basket can come out with a phrase like "the farmer would know if someone had been lamping on his land". Either you are very clueless and naive or you are on a mission to wind us up. All the best.
  4. Your talking shite and won't listen.
  5. i think the farmer would know if anyone has ever lamped it, Are you winding me up or just a retard? Sure the farmers all sit around in there pyjamas looking for lampers... You coxk end.
  6. Am I right in thinking that SACS offer discount for members of this forum? Anyone got a link? Gaz
  7. No one has ever lamped it? I bet a few lads on here have lol
  8. Considering SACS, Do they cover running dogs, ferrets, air rifles? Day and night? Gaz
  9. Interesting topic lads. I was seriously considering getting one of these but not so sure now :-( Gaz
  10. Thanks lurcher girl. So do you think that if I use the treats as a training aid then when I am 100% happy with him then slowly phase them out. So just 1 or 2 treats per walk. Then maybe only give treats on every second or third walk? And hopefully by the time the treats are phased out the bond should be stronger between us? Went out again this morning, few pieces of cheese and a few pieces of cooked sausage. (I know these treats are bad for a working dog but I'd rather him put a few lb on now and shape him into a working companion than end up shooting him, lol) And he was near perf
  11. Thanks for the replies folks. Took him a walk tonight with a tennis ball in one pocket and bag of diced cheese in the other (a lad off here suggested it as a treat). Gave him a taste of the cheese in exchange for a couple of "sits" on the way to the field/lanes.surprisingly he was VERY responsive and would sit, paw, lie etc for cheese! Which he hasn't done for a very long time! So I let him off when we got to the fields and he was walking virtually to heel (again I think because he knew I had got the cheese). I called him to me, sit and slip lead on in exchange for a small piece a
  12. Cheers Neal. I do like the look of them, that sole looks fantastic. Think I will give them a bash Gaz
  13. Are these what you use Neal? "Hiking Sole"! They certainly sound like what I am after. Wouldnt mind hearing who's got these and how they rate them?
  14. never heard that about them but theres that many types and there all suited to different types of wear i think the best type are the esk there designed for agricutural use and have soles to suit like a regular boot, the tay are for just walking in the counrtyside they have bobbly grip on them and i guess if ye do lots of road walking in them they would wear, the derwents aint much cop either ive heard in the muckboot range,i would recommend esk though i am really impressed with them Just looking at the ESK now. Looks like a quality boot for the cash. The sole looks the best of
  15. Which Muck boots were they ideation? I'm seriously considering Lowa Hunters. Gaz
  16. I've heard the toggis and muck boots can suffer from soles wearing very quickly when walking on concrete or Tarmac etc? I've just been looking at Lowa Hunter GTX. Does anyone rate these as a good all round boot? Cheers Gaz
  17. Okay so those who read this thread last week will know that I was making progress with my saluki x pup. Or so I thought... Just been out with the dummy again, absolutely terrible. He didn't retrieve it once. The couple of times that he came when called, he didn't being the dummy. The once or twice that he lay down with the dummy (about 10 feet away) he was growling and not wanting to give me the dummy. Then even after I put the dummy away his recall was none existent, completely playing the deaf card. Complete different dog to last week. At 10 months is this something I can turn
  18. Cheers Jay. Everyone has said he is gonna be a big lad. Looking forward to working them :-) Atb Gaz
  19. This is my 9 week old hob on the right...
  20. These look decent mate. How much you pay for a bag? Gaz There about £7 quid mate but there is no dust in them at all. I used to use the bedmax its the same stuff only smaller. It seems to last for ages i reckon a bale will last close on 5 months. Thanks very much mate. Found a supplier just up the road from me. Will get a bale tonight.
  21. I've heard good things about Altberg boots and I'm thinking that this kind of boot may suit me better than welliea based on the amount of walking I do. Especially considering that some days i do 10 miles of road walking. Equally I need something to handle the muddy fields and in winter to keep my feet warm and dry in snow. Do people rate these? http://www.militarykit.com/product_categories/footwear_altberg_boots.html Gaz
  22. Thanks for all the replies. Those who have reccomended muck boots or toggis - have you got any links to the ones you like? There is loads of choice! Basically I want a welly that will be warm enough for winter, fully waterproof, comfy enough to walk 10 mile in and with a decent enough sole to handle some road walking without wearing away. Ive heard good things about "lacrosse" but there are hundreds of models so wouldn't know which one to go for? Apparently these are a walking boot with a welly upper? Thanks Gaz
  23. Cheers mart. Will try to get a bale
  24. Cheers buddy will have a look. Gaz
  25. I am a big fan of traditional wellies for anything from fishing, lamping, mooching etc. But just recently been doing 8 mile plus walks and they are killing my feet. Anyone know of any quality wellies that are comfy and durable? And preferably with some sort of lining for the winter months? I wear boots in summer if it's dry but for % of the year I like my wellies. Cheers Gaz
