I used to use shredded cardboard, would be awesome if kennel was in a shed. The only downside was that it got all over the garden and blew everywhere, hence why it would be good in a shed. Other than that it was really warm and absorbent, odour free, could be left in for a week or 2 easily. Loved it. Now I've switched to just carpet on the kennel floor and a pet bed mat type thing which is £2.99 from JTF wholesale. Got a few of them which I wash every week or when dirty and alternate. They are basically a 2" thick foam mat with a cotton/nylon cover. This I find is plenty for summer.

As said above depends on dog and motive too. My 10 month old Lurcher will clear 4 foot to get to a rabbit, any other time and he makes 2 foot look difficult. He just doesn't like jumping at all. The run to partition the garden is 4.5 foot high and he hasn't entertained jumping it. However ive seen dogs make 6' look effortless. Gaz

He is certainly a looker. Nice dog mate looks a healthy pup. All the best. Gaz

Cheers. I knew khan was full Saluki but hadn't heard of Della Russ. Thanks.

Is this dog pure saluki then? Lovely animal that. Gaz

I'm not sure I fully understand your question? Are you worried about letting the pup into an enclosed garden at night in case it don't come back? What do you mean by "he ain't on the lead properly as of yet"? All the best. Gaz

Okay so it's a bull/grey/whip on steroids... Does this detract from the fact that it's a well worked dog in outstanding condition?
-
Granted Strong Stuffs reply was about as useful as a chocolate fire guard but it made me chuckle. Lol. I live in Stoke and it's tough going getting permission. I spent about 5 years trying to find someone to let me tag along like you are after. Finally found a few lads local who let me lamp with them etc on there permission but obviously with me being the new lad I cant go taking people out with me onto there permission. Drop me a PM and we might me able go for a wander one afternoon and stretch the dogs legs Gaz

I believe there was a hint of sarcasm when he said the bitch is not worked.
-
One minute shes a bull cross. Next minute she is on steroids. Now she's got a double muscle disease. Lads give me this kind of bollox in the gym, oh he's on gear so he doesn't work very hard. Or "hes got good genetics so it's easy for him". Jealousy is a terrible thing my friend. The dog is fit as f**k. Bull or not. End of.
-
Show me the fittest whippet in the book without bull or double muscle gene that looks like his "unworked" bitch. Just suppose that his whippet has got bull in it. Does this detract from the fact that he has worked hard to get the bitch looking so well? Does it make it less credible? Genuine question.

I tried to say that earlier

The battle is you trying to stick up for a puppy peddlar who no doubt will be of this site very shortly and leave you here with everyone thinking you've not got a scooby doo........never mind, you dad on!!!....... I haven't got a scooby doo mate
-
You are defending a peddlar when you've got no proof that his dogs are quality workers other than him telling you. Peddlars pray upon people like you mate..........show you a nice picture, give you a load of flannel over the phone and your caught, hook, line and sinker. Likewise you have no proof he is a peddlar. I assure you I will be nobody's pray, if the guy is still around in 12 months, and the pups from this litter can be seen and parents seen working and I'm happy then hell yes I will happily be accused of purchasing a pup off a peddlar. Who gives a f**k?
-
What's the battle? It's a forum, I was saying they are nice pups and it aint fair that everyone gives the lad shit. Just leave him be. All the best.
-
How do you know they're quality?Because he told you?........of course he's going to say that,he's hardly going to say there average is he! Your quite right. But they LOOK like well reared pups and the parents look fit and healthy. Which is more than can be said for alot on here. Obviously as with any litter I'm sure the parents could be seen working if required. Not that this would mean the pups will be any good :-) Gaz
-
Yes I was defending the "peddler". Feel free to abuse me as you see fit

A fool and his money are easy parted mate You are the only fool my friend. i am not the one going to pay 250 for a pup mate think you could do better £250 ain't alot for a half decent pup surely? There ain't many Saluki Whippets about. Especially out of decent parents (if they are!?). Lurchers are on here for £175 regularly and sell. An extra 75 notes for a specific cross from good stock ain't gonna kill me. Of course I could be wrong, they could be shite and his dogs never done a days work. I was just giving the lad benefit of the doubt. Gaz

I dont have anything wrong matey, that lad has said on his for sale thread that he has a dog that has sired 14 litters and is only 3!!......he also says on yet another thread that he is starting "his own line/strain" of plumbers You dont have to be a professor to see all that means is ££££......folk like that will big there dogs to get the sale (espcially at 2-3 hundred quid).......genuine dont come into it! ATB, Wilf Well I won't fall out with you over something stupid like this. I what you are saying is correct then yes on the surface he would appear to be a peddler. If t

Not digging at you but for someone whos bringing on there first running dog you seem to dish out alot of advice, how does someone with so little experience judge if someone knows slot in the sport especially as Everyman takes a modified approach to training there dogs. Or you just read alot of book and DVDs , like said asking out of interest to where your experiences and advice is based on, or is it what you've heard on here, genuine ? Not trying to be funny What advise do I dish out alot of? I aren't dishing any advice out here. Alot of what I say on here is based on common sense
-
14 litters out of that bitch? Think you got the wrong end of the stick pal.
-
No I haven't. Like most of the people on here haven't seen anyone else's work. But I know a nice litter of pups when I see one. Clean kennels, fit parents, well fed dogs. And ive spoke to the lad and he seems fairly genuine and like he knows what he's on about. More than I can say for most of the messers on here.

This place is full of busy bodies who spend too much time living a virtual life. He's bred a quality litter of pups. I would pay £250 for one of these pups. And I'm. Considering getting one if he repeats mating next year. This thread is about his whippet and a fine whippet at that. It's a shame some of the lads on here aren't breeding and working such quality instead of all the shite we see on here. Gaz
