  1. There is no rest of the pack, I have a lurcher, and 4 month old beagle/terrier mix. Going to take him out first light where there's loads of rabbits to see what he does, at the moment he focuses lot on what my lurcher is doing, it will be interesting to see how he responds without her there. Not worried really as he's very young, but just want to avoid any pitfalls if I can. Could it be worth keeping the lurcher on the slip for half an hour or so out of each mooch? Let the busher get confident in venturing off on its own?
  2. To the Op, seriously you don't need be buying rabbits to feed the ferrets. I go out when one freezer is about 1/4 left and hammer the pigeons, rabbits, squirrels or whatever with the air rifle. Plus heads from anything I get ferreting and lamping. Just go mad for a couple weeks. Fill couple freezers and then your sorted. If you don't manage get out then the ferrets still got good grub. I recently broke my ankle and couldn't get out for 6 weeks but had enough ferret food in freezer to last 5 weeks. Then when I was running low King came up and filled one of my freezers with pigeon
  3. I'm gonna find out where you live and come steal your ferret food. I feel another casserole coming on ?

  7. how many bulbs are in that lamp gaz atb mud I'm not sure mate. I haven't stripped the head down. It looks like 9 but it could be just one big one and that's how the reflector makes it look.

  12. My Jok box is serving me well...
  13. Can't beat decent nets mate. Makes a big difference. I will only use 4 foot spun poly now. Used the cheaper ones, smaller ones, thinner twine, etc. Just no comparison.
  14. f**k me .....what time is tea!!?? atb 6pm. If you start running now you shouldn't be too late ?
  15. I will give them a try plucky. I like the sound of the tandoori rabbit with the Greek yoghurt. My rabbit has just gone in the slow cooker at 9am. Onion, leeks, broccoli, carrot, swede, cauliflower, garlic, various herbs, a bottle of cider and 12 pork and honey sausages.
  16. i have seen Tommy27's whippets and that Brindle dog is a little daemon. As long as the weather is warm ....... And it's dry. And not too windy. And the grass is the right length ?
  17. There is definitely a sense of satisfaction eating what you catch but I would never kid myself that I liked anything. You either like it or you don't. We enjoy eating whatever I bring home, wether it's duck, pigeon, pheasant, rabbit, hare, venison. As said above though, there is cooked rabbit and cooked rabbit. It's gotta be done properly.
  18. All depends on work mate and what shift I'm on. Will certainly try to bring my littleun though. Let me know when you're back and when you're thinking and will see what I can do.

  20. Spot on, pity the vet didn't see it! Where?
  21. I've never understood the "rabbit is a bland meat" thing mate. Hear it a lot on here. I don't think it's any more bland than chicken or pork. It's all about what you do with it. For some reason people just boil it or roast it without doing anything to it. If you boil a pork joint or a few chicken legs in a pan of water it would be pretty bland too. I've had rabbit curry a couple of times, I like hare curry too using the saddles. This will be rabbit and sausage casserole tomorrow with honey and pork sausages and a bottle of cider in the mix.
  22. Haha well spotted. You won't see them out when the ground is frosty. Lol
  23. Yeh I'm up for a Sunday morning outing mate. You been doing much ferreting?
