Most likely canibalism, very common amongst rats. Had plenty of catches in the past where there has only been a tail or a couple of feet remaining. Grim little feckers. Up side is though, it sometimes gives you a little less to dispose of. Strange that the head was the first to go, i have always found them to start on the insides, ie through the gut.

It would be a great shame to see the decline of out ancient forests, although legistlation may change concerning these forests i dont think a mass " Fell " would be allowed to take place, im sure it would meet too much opposition. Some of the trees in these woodlands are centuries if not more in age and an important part of our heritage. Allowing a managed and selective thinning would be more appropriate, this wouldnt have much of an impact upon the diversity of the forests. As far as some of the large coniferous woodlands are concerned i dont think it would be much of a shame to see a lim

I have had a couple of seeland keeper jackets from soapy off here. Warm, waterproof and comfy, However they do take some pasty! I work outdoors and im in these coats everyday,shooting, ferreting moleing or just out with the mutts( unless its 27 degrees and cracking the flags!!). Once pissed wet through they dry fairly quick but im yet to have wet shoulders, absolute winners. Seeland thornhill is the newer version of the keeper jacket and well worth a look. Jasper, this has really touched a nerve for you hasnt it!!! There is land i work which does not have many rabbits but the hare population is healthy, i wont say much more because the bull cross brigade would have a hard on if they only knew They still need controling, all be it with a suitable air rifle if the shot arises, which more than often does. A well placed shot will drop a hare equally as well as it would a rabbit, no bother. So i dont see a problem.
