  1. if you can warm the chamber area with a blow torch and i mean warm dont let it colour up then get a small block of wood hold the wood on the bolt and gently tap to open the bolt.if it doesnt shift warm it again and increase the force of the hammer blows on the wood your bolt should open.if you dont eject the case you will have to put a cleaning rod down the bore and drive the case out.the case has stuck due to excessive pressure if its factory ammo i wouldnt shoot any more and take it back .
  2. Hi Gary, Not allowed to reload as far as I know. I'd love to though, even bought the books on it. The reason I mentioned recrown was because of the possibility of getting it screw cut for a mod. Yes, bedding is something that could be done. I'm thinking of changing to using Kroil and JB Bore Paste or possibly Butches Bore Shine in the cleaning department, using Hoppes Benchrest at the moment, just patches, no brushes. Nightforce NXS5.5-22x56 is the scope. Cheers fo rthat john.jb paste is for really tough carbon and copper fouling you should only use it as a last resort i use it ev
  3. ok there john.do you reload your own ammo ? or is it because your in the R.O.I. that your restricted.if not then in my opinion yes to a new trigger, the re-crown well only if it needs it and if your getting .5-.6 with factory ammo id leave it alone. maybe getting the rifle bedded will help you,as you state keeping the barrel clean helps if you want your gun to shoot the eyes off a fly its reloading by a long way to bring out the best in any rifle, but maybe thats a no-no.you probably have a good scope on now so your options are as above.hope this helps you mate
  4. my apologies on rechecking after seing snaps post hes right the 44 is for a leupold i have 51 with a touch of tape.
  5. a lot of work goes into threading a barrel if its done properly and to send it for proof as well.so in real terms the prices you state are not bad its the time factor, but if a job is worth doing well then its worth waiting for".no point spoiling the ship for a halfpenny of tar".
  6. JOHN i had the same problem with my NF. the objective on the NF is 64.94mm-2.554in i had to buy a butler creek cover and found no44 the best fit but not exact i had to add one layer of tape to the inside of the cover for a perfect fit the NF range of scopes are actually bigger than most scopes when its the objectve only by a few mm but enough to cause arse pains.
  7. keith go to reloaders nest.com there is a few loads with lil gun and 40 vmax
  8. sounds to me like a copper problem in the barrel thats giving you the odd flyer ,if you reckon on a clean barrel then get it borescoped you will be surprised what you see.and i dont think the cheap ammo is helping.not having a dig there its just that you get what you pay for with ammo, get homeloading for your sanity
  9. got mine on a 17 annie took it apart to clean it a managed to knock over the baffles any ways put it back together with one missing and went out to check it on some bunnys and couldnt tell any differance still managed 8 wabbits for 9 shots.i agree though there a twat to clean i just spray mine with gunscrubber works fine,a mate has one and he soaks his baffles in a bit of petrol they come out like new.
  10. go to reloaders nest.com there will be hundreds of loads for your swede, and yes slow to medium powders will work best, bullets are a differant kettle of fish though, start off with reloaders nest.

  12. well done jamie you will never forget your first fox mine still burns bright in my head after nearly25yrs
  13. good question john my reply is this-iv been shooting foxes now for a lot of years and from day one i told myself if a farmer/land agent/keeper asked me to sort out a fox then i would regardless of wether its the wrong time of year or not.if a vixen is shot and she has cubs and i dont know where they are then thats tough!she could easily get run over ,snared ,poisened, lamped by the dog men chased by a very angry squirrell thats life. a lot of folk on here would disagree with that ,well thats fine we all have our crosses to bare, some folk on here also say things like"those cubs are our summer
  14. DEKER.i havnt owned a remmy for about 7 yrs now but a gunsmith i know removes the trigger assembly and polishes the whole thing with jewellers paste its a very -very fine abrhasive.he then buffs it with a cordless drill and a buffing pad, dont know which one though! reassembled they are like a jewell trigger[well as near as can be].he charges nothing to his customers as long as he is doing other work for them .me iv had 2 jewell triggers and for the money there worth it BUT if you can work on yours as described then you will save ££££.a pumice stone will also take off any crap on a trigger

  19. i do want them shot, its just the getting them in... call me stoopid but why would you want to call in a fox risk spooking it or making it lamp shy when as you have stated you can se them at 150-200yds.if there is no safe back stop or buildings or farm stock in the way then i understand if not let us know, cheers.
  20. 22-250 and 243 have the same bolt face.473 i think ,so yes you can rebarrel using the same action.
  21. well said john some folk are just lazy.
  22. whilst sat here replying to a few posts got a phone call from a friend who has permission on 3 golf courses nearby he sorts out the rabbits for them.any way he called me yesterday and asked if i wanted to sort out a fox on one of the courses,it had been digging up the bunkers and the head man was well pissed off so off i go with him to lamp for him whilst he bashed a few bunnys. we got there at about 9.30 and walked the course i took the trusty 17rem with me with some 25gn berger varmint rounds very safe as there are a few houses around the border of the course.we had been walking for 20mins
  23. its more bother then its worth mate shame really as there are some cracking stuff over there cheap i think that as from feb this year anything pertaining[a big fecking word there]to a fire arm even a stock if it is valued at more than $100 then it needs an export permit, this of course adds to the total cost and its a pain in the ar*e.you could ring a few r.f.d to see if they can help you out?
  24. RICH why risk spooking em with a call just get em shot,if they wont sit still for you put a bait down to give you some time then just sit in cover and wait.
  25. deker to answer all your questions with one answer SHI*E!. i had one on a 17hmr for all of 3 weeks.the problems were.1.scope would not return to zero when i dialled in any extra windage/elevation.2/did a box test at 75yds the p.o.i ended up 2high 1 inch right- thats bad! 3/ the construction overall was not bad but iv seen better on cheaper scopes. 4/i dont think the tube was true it was in laymans terms -bent.so i took it back where i bought it from when in the shop there was another one on the counter the guy went blood red when i pulled mine out of the bag.got my money back a rather muted
