my family done a bit of research,and traced some of our history back,the most interesting things to come out of it,were that at some point we had a coat of arms with the family crest,an owl proper sitting on a mortice post,and motto,in latin?ready by day or by night.found some interesting pictures of great grandparents,and even had a great aunt ,ithink it was? who survived the sinking of the Titanic,shes now in the local village cemetery,and the vicars well pleased because she gets lots of visitors from all over the world.i even done a bit of research on her ,and found out she was a crew membe

It dates back to the days when folk left thier valuables in a kettle (literally/presumably safe by dint of being too obvious) and so though a fob watch may well have been found in there...so to would other valuables (jewellery) and so the term "had a kettle" was born from the thief takers of the day(The thieves Opera by Lucy Moore). my mrs has one,its o.k no major problems fairly good on diesel,no hi/low ratio though,so serious off roaders theyre not but for doggin and shoppin theyre alright. early petrol versions had head gasket problems i think.

i met a self made traveller/busker last summer with a similar setup,except he had a cob and a donkey ,after nosing around his home,i asked him why a donkey?he said the cob does the straight stuff and the donkey does the hills,like a low gear after watching him for a while sitting on a stool carving pegs i think they were,i asked him how he came to be living this way ,cause it was obvious he wasnt travelling stock,he said he used to work in computers ,but just had enough,and chose a different life.i got even nosier and asked if the pegs made him a living,no he said but they help,he knew i was
