  1. A gamekeeper friend of mine suffered this terrible disease last year. He ended up very poorly on a life support machine in hospital and very nearly lost his life. He's recovered now, but it has taken its toll on him, and he was a very strong and active man. If you spend time outdoors in the countryside, be aware of the flu-like symptoms as described earlier in the thread and go and see a doctor straight away.
  2. Well its been 6 months since I posted this! Not a lot has changed up there, the bracken's a bit high at the moment, needs some good hard frosts to knock it back, but the dogs enjoy hunting in it. Better dig out a few more recent photos and get them posted. thanks for the nice comments folks
  3. A good dog that has put the work in for you, deserves a place by your own fireside, not somebody elses.... Good adult dogs of any kind are hard to come by, because people don't sell them on.
  4. its an old thread this one..... and nearly 3 years on, here she is..
  5. No problem, just let me know
  6. I have some nets that are of no use to me, unused, they just need pegs on them. You are more than welcome to have them - let me know if you'd like them and I'll pop them in the post to you.
  7. They open up on whatever they are hunting mighty celt.
  8. possibly she didnt want to, but she did retrieves too
  9. Enjoyed that post - fab photos blackstaff
  10. Looking forward to this show, its the one show I always try to get to (first this year for me!). Meeting up with a few friends, and looking forward to seeing a dog I bred compete in the Cock of the North show this year ( good luck, you know who you are ) . Hope you are well Ron, nice to see you on here
  11. She's very fast Whin (faster than her 1/4 beardie 3/4 greyhound sire), and very small for a deerhound type (23"), she can turn on a sixpence. Shes still quite young so I wouldnt yet want to comment on her stamina just yet, hopefully by the end of the season I'll have more idea but her mother has excellent stamina, she runs on some difficult ground for long distances, so I'm hoping she'll have inherited this. As far as being greyhoundy, well I think that just shows through because she's smooth coated, her dam is just as racy underneath all that hair.. Shes fit as a lop and raring to go
  12. nice pup ferret333. My two, mother & daughter
  13. This is how to make a balls of it works for me every time, 2 mins each side, nice medium rare steak, and Im very particular about how my steaks are cooked hate them overdone..
  14. Fry in a hot pan for 2 to 3 mins each side, DO NOT keep turning it over, just 2 or 3 mins, depending on how well done you want it, turn it over and the same on the other side, then cover & put in a warm oven whilst you quickly make a sauce in the same pan, then serve
  15. never mind the wolfhounds, what about this
  16. looking forward to going today, nice day for it
  17. Hope your dogs ok. One of my bitches had a similar injury a couple of years back when she got caught on a cut down willow tree stump, had to carry her back. She had a huge tear on her underside which the vet stitched up and recovered well after a few weeks rest. Fingers x for your dog
  18. Fantastic photos Millet, really nice
  19. Yeah, they are, but some are cuter than others A terrier is a different kettle of fish to a lurcher thats for sure I recently borrowed a 50 mm fast lens to try out - because its so fast, the depth of field is very shallow & its quite hard to get photos sharp but they are great for low light/indoors ..you've done extremely well
  20. Very cute puppy, and nice photos lurchergrrl
