We managed to borrow one from the farmer which lasted for a short while, but the ground was so hard, the handle broke off! We accounted for about hal

  10. I agree I have nothing to be sorry about I shall rephrase "Dan I agree with gafer on this one. Just because a dog is big doesn't mean it isn't good at picking up rabbits or an equal match to a smaller dog. It depends on the dog itself. I have an old first cross deerhound/greyhound here, she is at least 29" tts and she would often beat the smaller lurchers to rabbits when they were out together. She did this regularly even into her old age, when she was in good health, on all kinds of land. Shes old and quite poorly now, I would give my right arm to have her back as a young dog and start a

  13. We got 23 You're not wrong there Millet.... Good luck on Saturday, good to see the old soldier is still going strong, he's a lovely old dog and a good age for a plummer. We are hoping to be out at the weekend also
  14. Had an invitation out on a pest control job recently on a farm where rats had very recently moved in and seemed to be taking over. When we arrived all the signs were there for a good day, but, as with all farms, there were a lot of obstacles along the way, farm machinery, rubbish, tyres and even an old skip. First marks were on an open piece of land that allowed the rats to be dug out, it was a promising start. From there we moved around the farm, each place being very different, some amongst the farm buildings and some in a load of old tyres but rats kept bolting and dogs kept catching.
  15. Some great photos on this thread. An old photo taken on 35 mm film, with my first ever camera, a Kodak brownie, when I was 8 years old Looking out towards the outer hebrides from Skye and a ferreting end of day..

  17. Not too bad Romany ta. Did you get your dog back? Too many dogs being stolen at the moment. What makes them think they can take what belongs to someone else
  18. Know exactly how you feel Dennned, had the bull bars nicked off the front of my pick up last night, it was parked on the drive next to the house! Just been told can't claim on insurance cos we'll lose the no claims and it will work out more expensive in the end (what is the point of car insurance?!!!) My only consolation is that they left the dogs alone - that I could not cope with Unlikely as it is I hope you get your belongings returned.
